Polar Bear Design Introduces Serenium for Flexible Climate and Air Quality Control

Polar Bear Design has introduced Serenium, a new discreet thermostat and air quality sensor designed to give smart home integrators greater flexibility when specifying heating, cooling and ventilation systems for residential projects.

The latest addition to the Polar Bear Design range offers an alternative to conventional wall-mounted thermostats, allowing installers to deliver intelligent climate control without the need for a visible user interface in every room.

Serenium combines the functionality of a Polar Bear Design triple-stage heating and triple-stage cooling interlocked thermostat with air quality monitoring and Demand Controlled Ventilation (DCV). This allows ventilation to respond to conditions within a room, potentially improving energy efficiency, indoor air quality and occupant wellbeing.

The compact, faceless design also provides greater freedom for architects and interior designers, particularly in high-end residential environments where visible technology needs to be carefully considered.

Rather than replacing traditional thermostats, Serenium is intended to complement them. Homeowners can retain direct control through an interactive thermostat in principal living spaces, while other rooms benefit from discreet sensing connected to the wider automation system.

This room-by-room approach gives integrators more options when developing a property’s overall climate control strategy, balancing performance, functionality and aesthetics according to the requirements of each space.

As heating, cooling and ventilation become increasingly integrated with lighting, shading, security and other smart home technologies, the ability to gather accurate environmental information without introducing additional visible controls can be particularly valuable.

Serenium has been developed to work within the wider Polar Bear Design ecosystem, providing another option for integrators designing comprehensive climate control solutions.

Polar Bear Design will introduce Serenium in greater detail during a dedicated webinar on Thursday, November 5, 2026, from 11am to 12pm.

Hosted by Rob Thompson, Product Designer, and Dan Edwards, Sales Manager, the session will explore Serenium’s functionality, its applications within residential projects and how it works alongside the company’s existing products.

The webinar will also examine how integrators can combine conventional thermostats and discreet environmental sensing to create more tailored heating, cooling and ventilation solutions.

With greater emphasis being placed on indoor air quality, energy efficiency and unobtrusive technology within modern smart homes, Serenium provides integrators with another tool for delivering climate control that meets both technical and aesthetic requirements.
