Polar Bear Design introduces Serenium thermostat for smart homes

Polar Bear Design has introduced Serenium, a discreet, faceless thermostat and air quality sensor designed to give integrators greater choice when planning heating, cooling and ventilation control across a property.

It works alongside the wider control system to provide accurate information from within the room, helping the system respond intelligently to the conditions in the space. Rather than replacing the role of a thermostat, Serenium adds another option to the integrator’s toolkit.

The Serenium provides all the same features as a full Polar Bear Design triple stage heating, triple stage cooling interlocked thermostat and also adds the ability to provide Demand Controlled Ventilation (DCV) which provides a unique energy efficient design to clean air ventilation and improved health and well being.

Serenium allows integrators to choose the right solution room by room. A client might want direct control from a thermostat in their main living spaces, while other areas of the property could benefit from discreet sensing integrated into the wider automation system.

This flexibility gives integrators more freedom when developing the overall climate strategy, while also helping architects and interior designers achieve the aesthetic they want.

Heating and cooling is increasingly becoming part of a much wider connected ecosystem. Lighting, AV, shading, security and climate all need to work together to create an intuitive experience for the homeowner. For the integrator, that means selecting products that can fit comfortably into a wider control strategy rather than treating climate as a standalone system.

Serenium has been developed with this type of integration in mind. It expands the possibilities available to integrators using Polar Bear Design products, providing another way to gather environmental information and create a climate control solution tailored to the individual property. It also gives integrators more options at the design stage — whether the project calls for an interactive thermostat, discreet sensing, or a combination of both.

Polar Bear Design will be introducing Serenium in more detail during a dedicated webinar on Thursday 5 November 2026, from 11:00am–12:00pm.

Hosted by Product Designer; Rob Thompson and Dan Edwards, Sales Manager, the webinar will explore what Serenium is, how it works and where it can add value within a project.

The team will also look at how Serenium fits within the wider Polar Bear Design ecosystem and the different ways integrators can approach climate control across modern residential projects.
