D‑Tools has launched Inventory Asset Management in D‑Tools Cloud, giving integrators complete visibility into individual physical assets throughout the project lifecycle, from receiving and warehouse management through installation and ongoing service.
The new feature set moves D‑Tools Cloud from count‑based stock management to true per‑unit asset tracking, giving every physical item its own digital identity, including serial number, warehouse location, project assignment, actual unit cost, firmware version, MAC and IP addresses and a complete asset history.
Where traditional inventory systems aggregate items into product totals, D‑Tools Cloud now tracks the exact unit. The feature is built for AV professionals who need to know exactly which unit is on which shelf, allocated to which room, installed at which customer’s home, and still under warranty on which P.O., unifying four previously fragmented workflows (warehouse intake, project allocation, field installation and post‑install service) under a single per‑asset data model.
“Our customers have been asking for better visibility into the physical assets moving through their business,” says G Paul Hess, CEO of D-Tools. “Inventory Asset Management gives integrators the ability to track individual devices throughout their entire lifecycle inside the same D-Tools Cloud platform they already use every day. This improves accountability, simplifies service workflows, strengthens inventory control and helps integrators make better operational decisions.”
The new Inventory Asset Management functionality provides unit-level asset tracking, allowing integrators to track every physical item individually throughout its lifecycle. Each asset can be assigned a unique ID and linked to information including serial number, warehouse location, project assignment, scheduled and received dates, unit cost, firmware version, MAC address, IP address and a complete asset history.
The system supports QR label generation directly from D-Tools Cloud, enabling assets to be linked to manufacturer serial numbers for accurate physical-to-digital tracking. Custom label fields, batch printing capabilities and print history are designed to simplify asset management across larger inventories.
Barcode-driven workflows allow users to receive inventory against purchase orders, transfer equipment between warehouse locations, allocate devices to projects and identify installed assets. Batch processing tools enable multiple assets to be managed simultaneously.
Inventory Asset Management also captures actual unit costs when inventory is received, providing more accurate job costing, margin analysis, warranty tracking and lifecycle reporting. Specific devices can be assigned to individual rooms, systems and customer locations, enabling service teams to identify the exact unit installed at a site rather than simply tracking quantities.
Each asset includes a complete audit trail, recording changes, user activity and updated information while preserving the full history of the device. Asset records can also store installation notes, firmware updates, repair history, calibration information and customer-specific details, providing technicians with immediate access to service-related information.
Bulk management tools allow multiple assets to be edited, moved, allocated or relabelled through grid-based workflows designed to improve warehouse efficiency.
According to D-Tools, the functionality is intended to help integration firms improve operational efficiency, strengthen service capabilities and reduce errors. Benefits include faster warranty and RMA processing, more accurate service records, improved job costing, quicker warehouse operations and enhanced compliance through comprehensive audit trails. Serialised asset tracking also supports accountability and loss prevention while providing visibility into installed equipment that may assist with future upgrade opportunities.
The Inventory Asset Management feature extends D-Tools Cloud beyond quoting and project management into full asset lifecycle tracking. It is designed for integration firms managing warranty and RMA processes, warehouse operations, service calls requiring identification of specific installed devices, compliance and audit requirements, project costing analysis and long-term customer asset management.
Inventory Asset Management is now available in D-Tools Cloud. The feature entered beta with the May 14, 2026 release and is currently rolling out for general availability. QR labels launch with PDF output support, with direct Brother and Zebra printer integrations planned for future releases.
