Optoma is targeting gamers, sports fans and film buffs around the world with its latest GT5000 projector.

Thanks to its ultra-short lens, the Optoma GT5000 can show extra-large 100in images on any wall with the projector placed just 30cm away.

Boasting a Full HD 1080p resolution and 3,000 ANSI lumens brightness, the GT5000 can be used with the lights on or in a darkened room.

Gamers will also benefit from the 33ms input lag and quick response times, ensuring that avid fans of fast-paced game series such as Call of Duty or Battlefield aren’t killed because of screen delay.

Optoma’s head of product marketing, Justin Halls, comments: “People using their TV for gaming, sports and films are missing out.

“The portable 100in super-sized imagery offered by the GT5000 enables everyone to enjoy high resolution, life-size images in any room in their home.”

There are two HDMI inputs for connection to any device, including digital television set-top boxes, like the Apple TV, or games consoles. Switching between different sources is done with a single push of a button.

For those not needing the immersive sound provided by the likes of a Dolby Atmos-equipped system, Optoma has provided a 16W built-in speaker. Those needing a little more oomph are also catered for as an audio output is included.

The GT5000 can display true 3D content from almost any 3D source, including 3D Blu-ray players, 3D broadcasting and the latest generation games consoles. Support for 144Hz rapid refresh rate promises to provide ultra-smooth flicker free images.
