Armour Home Electronics has appointed music industry figure Sav Remzi as its new Culture Ambassador, as the company looks to build stronger links between its audio brands and the wider music and creative communities.
The company, home to Goldring, QED and Q Acoustics, says the appointment forms part of a strategy to move beyond traditional Hi-Fi audiences and establish closer relationships with artists, venues, record shops, listening bars and other spaces where music culture is created and experienced.
Remzi has spent more than three decades working across music, art, nightlife and cultural projects. He founded the influential Blue Note Club in Shoreditch, which became a focal point for London’s creative scene during the 1990s and was associated with figures including Goldie, James Lavelle, Gilles Peterson and Andrew Weatherall.
His career has also included the Nuphonic and Tirk record labels and the creation of Lovebox Festival with Groove Armada’s Tom Findlay and Andy Cato. Other projects have included The House of St Barnabas, developed with figures including Jarvis Cocker and Neneh Cherry, and ONBlackheath, which featured artists such as Massive Attack and Grace Jones.
Remzi was also behind Bridge & Tunnel, an early example of the listening-bar concept, where a high-performance sound system and music-first approach were central to the venue’s identity.
As Culture Ambassador, Remzi will help connect Armour Home’s Goldring, QED and Q Acoustics brands with artists, venues and creative communities.
Sav Remzi said: “Whether it’s an intimate bar, a festival in a field, a garden party or a major venue, the principle is always the same: put great sound at the heart of the experience and let people connect around it.
“The team at Armour Home understands that high-performance audio isn’t an end in itself, it’s what brings the music to life. I’m looking forward to connecting these iconic brands with the artists, spaces and communities that are making waves where it counts.”
Charlie Henderson, Managing Director of Armour Home, added: “It’s great to be collaborating with Sav again. He’s a legend. Sav has an extraordinary ability to bring together the right people, the right ideas and always with real taste and style.
“As we position Goldring, QED and Q Acoustics at the heart of listening and music culture, there couldn’t be a better person to have with us for the ride.”
The appointment also reflects a wider trend within the specialist audio industry, with brands increasingly looking beyond conventional Hi-Fi marketing to engage directly with contemporary music culture, artists and live experiences. For the custom installation channel, this growing crossover is worth watching too: the closer premium audio brands become to the culture surrounding music, the greater the opportunity for integrators to engage consumers through their passion for music and experiences, rather than technology alone.
