Nest is still not even considering adding HomeKit support to any of its products, but that isn’t stopping the company from expanding its current Apple product support base. With an update to its iOS update, Nest has added the ability to directly control its learning thermostat from the Apple Watch.

While the biggest new feature of the Nest App update is Apple Watch control, the company also made a few other improvements including 1080p streaming on the Dropcam Pro and automatic video quality adjustments to ensure live streams choose the best picture based on the quality of the connection.

The launch of Apple Watch support is not the first time Nest has supported wearable devices. Nest already supports Android Wear devices, which was seen as a priority seeing as it’s a product shipped by Nest’s parent company, Alphabet.

The global wearable technology market is expected to reach $170bn by 2025, according to a new report by The Insight Partners. It’s expected that smart home adoptions could drive the adoption even further – already many popular control companies support the Apple Watch and other wearable devices.
