Monitor Audio has announced the launch of the Radius Series 4G, a reinvention of one of the company’s compact speaker ranges.
The redesigned series is built around Monitor Audio’s Transparent Design Philosophy and is aimed at residential and commercial spaces where high-fidelity sound and discreet design are required, says the company.
Radius Series 4G comprises three speakers: Radius 1, Radius 3 and Radius On-Wall, supported by matching accessories including a custom Floor Stand, Desk Pad and two Wall Bracket options. Monitor Audio says the range can support stereo listening, multi-channel home cinema, multi-room audio, commercial installations and near-field desktop use.
At the heart of the range is Monitor Audio’s C-CAM Ceramic-Coated Aluminium/Magnesium cone technology, now combined with the company’s RST III cone geometry. Monitor Audio says this helps reduce break-up and resonance across the frequency range to support a more accurate and natural sound.
The Radius Series 4G also introduces a redesigned C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter, using an external magnet motor system rather than a traditional internal puck magnet. The company says the crossover networks have also been developed through extensive measurement, listening and component selection to support clean signal transfer between amplification and drive units.
Design features include Through-Bolt Driver Bracing, which secures the drive units to the rear of the cabinet to improve rigidity and reduce unwanted chassis resonance. Each model also includes Monitor Audio’s HiVe II port design to support smoother airflow and tighter bass. On the new Radius 3, the port has been enlarged by 50% compared with the previous generation.
Accessories include a Radius 4G Floor Stand with wooden tripod legs and concealed cable routing, plus a Desk Pad designed to provide vibration isolation and a slight upward tilt for near-field listening.
