Lumene has announced the Coliseum Silent, a new generation of motorised projection screens aimed at dedicated home cinema and high-end residential installations.
Replacing the existing Coliseum range, the new models introduce a redesigned motor system and electronics, alongside changes intended to make the screens quieter, smoother and easier for professional installers to fit and configure.
A key addition is electronic limit control, allowing the upper and lower stopping positions of the screen fabric to be precisely configured for each installation. Integration options include RS485, dry contacts, 433 MHz RF, infrared and a 12 V trigger, providing compatibility with a range of home automation and control systems.
Lumene has also introduced an S-curve motion-control algorithm that manages acceleration and deceleration during deployment and retraction. The system is designed to reduce sudden movement and unnecessary tension on the fabric, helping maintain screen flatness over time.
At the heart of the Coliseum Silent is a new 20 W DC motor, operating from a universal 110–240 V power supply without the need for an external transformer. Lumene quotes operating noise below 50 dB and an expected service life of more than 20,000 cycles. Electromagnetic shielding is also included to improve resistance to interference.
Installation has been revised with new slimmer and more robust L-shaped brackets suitable for wall or ceiling mounting. The casing incorporates a sealed construction and dedicated grounding system designed to dissipate static electricity, reduce dust attraction and protect the electronics.
Five screen types make up the Coliseum Silent range. The UHD 4K model offers 1.0 gain and sizes from 92in to 180in, with prices from £1,799 to £4,399 SSP. UHD 4K/8K Platinum increases gain to 1.3 and is available in the same size range, priced from £1,849 to £4,549 SSP.

For installations requiring loudspeakers behind the screen, the UHD 4K Acoustic version uses a 0.8-gain micro-perforated fabric with 92,000 perforations per square metre. Five sizes from 92in to 158in are offered, priced from £2,299 to £4,599 SSP.
The Extra Bright LT is intended for long-throw projection in rooms with ambient light, offering 1.2 gain and claimed ambient light rejection of more than 85%. Six versions from 92in to 180in are priced between £2,049 and £4,599 SSP.
Completing the line-up is the Extra Bright UST, designed for ultra-short-throw projectors. Its 0.5-gain CLR fabric offers a claimed ambient light rejection of more than 88%, with four sizes from 92in to 130in available from £2,149 to £3,999 SSP.
UK stock of the new Lumene Coliseum Silent range is expected to arrive in November. UK supply is via Avoke.
