CEDIA is taking its Cabling & Infrastructure Technician (CIT) certification exam to venues across the UK, making it easier for technicians to gain industry-recognised qualifications and demonstrate their professional expertise.

The initiative aims to increase the number of certified professionals in the UK while raising standards and strengthening the credibility of the smart home industry.

Designed for technicians in the early stages of their careers, the CIT certification provides an opportunity to validate foundational knowledge, build confidence and demonstrate a commitment to professional development.

Upcoming examination dates and venues include:

  • November 3 – CEDIA HQ, St Neots
  • November 4 – Habitech, Basingstoke
  • November 18 – Alltrade, Glasgow
  • December 9 – AWE, Epsom

The programme also included an October 1 session at Alltrade in Manchester.

CIT certification provides a recognised, brand-neutral industry credential and supports members working towards CEDIA Member of Excellence status. Certified professionals can also benefit from increased visibility through CEDIA’s Find a Smart Home Professional directory.

Additional benefits include eligibility to become a Smart Home Assessor under the CEDIA Smart Home Assurance programme and qualification for the CEDIA Home Technology Integrator ECS Card, which supports site access.

Matt Nimmons, Managing Director of CEDIA EMEA, says, “Certification is an important way for professionals to demonstrate their expertise and commitment to best practice, but we understand that accessibility can often be a barrier. By taking the CIT exam on the road, we are making it easier for more technicians across the UK to gain a globally recognised industry credential and support the continued growth and professionalism of the sector.”

To help candidates prepare, everyone who registers will receive a complimentary CEDIA CIT textbook worth £65.

Places are limited, and early booking is recommended. Further information and registration are available through the CEDIA events calendar.
