Rayleigh Sound & Vision has been awarded the coveted Artcoustic Installation of the Month for November 2018, with the firm having just finished putting the finishing touches on a premium dedicated home cinema room.
There are many things that help a project stand out, whether it’s through the use of innovative technologies or the way the installer battled through hard decisions and delivered a project that excelled, and this installation from Rayleigh is an example of both of those qualities. While it was supposed to be a simple change from an outdated media room in the basement to a high-end and modern home cinema, things didn’t exactly go according to plan.
Just a few weeks after moving, the client suffered a flood in the basement of the house which meant everything was completely lost and unsalvageable. That meant the entire basement had to be stripped back to the brick and the entire space completely revised. Thankfully, this got the creative juices flowing at Rayleigh Sound & Vision, with its Chelmsford team able to design a dedicated 10 seat cinema room.
Working closely with Artcoustic, the company was able to create 3D renders of the room to show the client what it would look like when the installation was complete. This also enabled the designers to ensure that it was the best that it could be – and Rayleigh even goes so far as to describe this particular install as ‘reference status’, designed for the best audio and picture quality.
Artcoustic’s flagship Performance Sub 6 was selected for the installation, while an Arcam AVR-850 receiver with match four-channel power amp was installed to power the system. The audio system is capable of delivering 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos audio, while a Sony VPL-760 4K HDR laser projector was installed to deliver the visual experience. This was then paired with a DT-Screens 150in wide cinemascope screen.
In addition to all the technology and installation work, Rayleigh also supplied the cinema seating. Different options were chosen across the cinema, with Cineca’s Siena range finished in leather for the rear row, and the Modena range in Alcantara fabric with matching foot rests chosen for the front row. Both rows are fully electric, with the front row boasting two motors for separate head and foot recline.
To round off the experience, RGB LED lighting from Rako Controls, Starcase Infinity Fibre LED lighting panels, Lutron motorised curtains and a Control4 automation system were also selected for the installation.
