Screen Innovations will be at ISE 2020 on stand #1-N80 showcasing a wide variety of its motorised screen technologies, including the world’s first Zigbee 3.0 screens and shades.
“We’ve listened to feedback from our dealers, and redesigned and expanded our product offerings to reflect our commitment to providing them with the types of products and solutions they need,” says SI CEO Ryan Gustafson. “At our core, we are a technology company, and our mission is to bring these technologies to our dealers though continually enhanced screen materials, motorisation capabilities, and simpler methods of installation and integration.”
The following products and technologies are featured by SI at ISE 2020:
World’s First Zigbee 3.0 Screens and Shades
A highlight of SI’s introductions at ISE 2020 is the implementation of Zigbee 3.0 into its screen and shade solutions, with an initial North American rollout., Zigbee 3.0 turns SI’s motorised screens and shades into communications powerhouses, enabling them to seamlessly interoperate with a wide range of other devices that adhere to the protocol, including popular brands of lighting, voice control, and automation systems. Based on a dynamic mesh topology, the Zigbee 3.0 ecosystem becomes stronger and more resilient as the number of devices on the network expands.
Janus Low-Voltage Power and Control Hub
A new product developed by SI, Janus is designed to simplify and expand the installation of motorised screens. In the past, integrators have had no choice but to mount huge panels or run conduit to deliver power and control multiple motorised screens. The Janus low-voltage power and control hub, however, is able to do the job at a fraction of the size of traditional panels, without the need for conduit. Janus is 75% smaller than its closest competitor, yet has the capacity to accommodate connections for as many as eight screens and eight accessories, such as keypads.
Janus is ideal for projects requiring the installation of multiple screens, as the manufacturer states that the expandability of Janus is limitless. It can utilise all wire topologies, even a Cat5 or Cat6 can be run 45.7 or more to SI’s largest screen motor.
Fontus Enables Two-Way Power and Control Over Two-Conductor Wire
A new “problem solving” product that enables new low-voltage motorised screens to be controlled via any type of traditional two-conductor wiring, SI’s Fontus allows integrators to utilise wire that may already exist inside a building or home to connect screens to a modern control system.
With Fontus, an integrator can make a two-conductor wire perform 485 communication as if it were an eight-conductor wire, significantly simplifying the installation. As long as there is a two-conductor wire available near the screen location, Fontus, a dongle that plugs into SI’s new Janus power and control hub, converts low-voltage communications signals and power from a five-conductor system for distribution over two-conductor wire. The signal is decoded for reception at the screen location via a second Fontus dongle with no loss of signal.
Expansion of Low-Voltage Motorized Screen Offerings
To deliver more low-voltage options to dealers, SI has implemented its low-voltage motor technology across its entire line of motorised screens. This low-voltage capability was initially rolled out in 2017 in a few varieties of SI motorised screens, but is now incorporated into every model. Every SI motorised screen can now be powered and controlled via any type of low-voltage wire, including Cat5 and even two-conductor speaker wire. This affords integrators worldwide enhanced installation flexibility, versatility and cost savings.
Solo 2 Redesigned Ultra-Compact Motorized Screen Assembly
One of the signature features of SI’s new Solo 2 motorised cassette is its compact, decorator-friendly design. With cassette sizes starting at 90mm in depth and height, the Solo 2 is 17% smaller than the original version, allowing it to be installed in places that would otherwise be impossible. The cassette is available in a width of up to 3.5 meters, and in AC, DC and wireless lithium rechargeable versions.
FlexGlass Durable, Bendable Rear-Projection Glass
SI’s FlexGlass re-invents rear-projection screens by providing integrators with a surface that’s durable yet bendable, boasts a low profile of just 2-1/2 millimeters thick, and is available in sizes up to 30,785 millimeters wide by 2,616 millimeters tall. These features make FlexGlass a highly versatile rear-projection screen, supporting applications including digital signage, projection blending, short-throw projection, and as a traditional rear-projection surface. Completely bendable, FlexGlass can be configured in a number of ways, such as an S-Shape against a curved wall and even a 360-degree circle.
Zero-G Long Drop Motorized Screen Assembly
Featuring an extended maximum drop of nearly 16 feet, SI’s newly redesigned Zero-G provides integrators with a solution when specifying motorised screens in structures with extremely tall ceilings. Unlike competing long-drop motorised solutions, Zero-G has no black mask above the viewing surface. Instead, the Zero-G screen is housed in a two-piece tube that is suspended from Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene cables, where it deploys at a preset location and unrolls itself, displaying the viewing surface without any visual distractions.
Black Diamond XL Screen
SI’s new Black Diamond screen, Black Diamond XL, offers integrators a larger viewing surface than previous versions of the product. In the past, Black Diamond and other layer-based optical screens were limited to 60 inches in height. The XL version increases the maximum height to 76 inches, making it possible to create a seamless 150-inch diagonal 16:9 optical screen.
