Jordan O'BrienQMotion UK has introduced QiS, a ZigBee operated two-way wireless control solution for a range of motorised roller shades.
This breakthrough development enables installers to integrate blind control into a whole house or single room automation system, whilst simultaneously enabling accurate feedback on shade positioning for improved performance, remote monitoring and maintenance.

QiS utilises ZigBee HA 1.2 to integrate natively with all compatible devices in a Control4 home automation system. Drivers are available for integration with Vantage, Crestron, Savant, URC, RTI and other popular control platforms via a compact QMotion Qube integration device.
Each Qube can support up to 32 blinds or up to 60 blinds when used with a QMotion Range Extender on larger installations. Standalone control is also provided from tablets and mobile devices via QMotion iOS or Android Apps.
QMotion says that with QiS installers benefit from enhanced communication consistency, due to built-in signal collision avoidance over the self-healing ZigBee mesh network.
Blinds can be grouped and automated to raise and lower to four selected, programmable positions. They feature automatic safety braking to ensure they never pass completely over the top of the roller, when rising.
QMotion’s patented manual-override command also allows homeowners to operate the blinds by hand, where required, without damaging the automated mechanism.
According to QMotion, its roller shade brackets are the industry’s thinnest, ensuring an easy and unobtrusive installation in properties where the preservation of the design scheme may be a top priority.
This also reduces the side light gaps to 13mm on each side for optimum room shading performance.
A full range of high quality fabric design and colour options are available, including a bespoke service, enabling QMotion UK to meet any interior design requirements.
QiS with ZigBee HA 1.2 control is shipping in the UK and Europe from July 2016.
