Together For Cinema CIC is a Community Interest Company whose main focus is to work with the AV industry to design and install home cinema rooms in children’s hospices and other suitable locations across the UK. These rooms not only benefit the children and young adults, but also their families, carers, staff and volunteers. Together For Cinema has comprehensive support and backing from industry, hence all products and installation services are donated.
Increasingly there are other opportunities presenting themselves that show there is much more than can be done, by linking up international AV companies with good causes or recycling second hand AV equipment it is clear there is the need for an industry conduit to liaise with good causes in the UK.
Serious progress
Together For Cinema has now installed 48 cinema rooms at a ‘had they been paid for’ value of in excess of £1.2m. By the end of 2024 this will be 50 rooms and £1.25m of value. The initiative already has eight installations scheduled for next year, four at Children’s Hospices, one at an Adult Hospice, one at a Teenage Cancer Care Centre, one at a Children’s Centre helping children living with complex medical needs and physical disabilities and one at a Children’s Hospital ward. All of these new cinema rooms will make a really positive difference to so many children and their families.
Work has started on the AV product repurposing programme website and this is expected to trial early in 2025.
This year’s £1m Celebration Dinner in May was a huge success and helped raise funds for the cause, as will the London to Brighton cycle ride the weekend after EI Live! 2024.
