Installers looking for ‘smart’ strip lighting would have probably taken a look at Philips’ Hue line-up; after all, it offered a variety of colours ideal for mood lighting.
Today, Philips officially expanded its Lightstrip line-up, with the Hue Lightstrip Plus.
Not all that much has changed, the Lightstrip Plus is still a 2m LED-studded, adhesive-backed strip that can be used for an array of functions – such as providing mood lighting within the home, or adding a more immersive experience to a TV, like Philips’ Ambilight technology.
What has changed however is the brightness and the addition of a tunable white light.
The Lightstrip Plus can reach a brightness of 1,600 lumens and can emit over 16 million different colours.
Installers needing more than 2m worth of light strips can also chain different modules together to reach a length of up to 10m – perfect for under cabinets in the kitchen.
If installers need less than 2m, then that’s not a problem either – as, like the original generation Hue Lightstrip, the Lightstrip Plus can be cut and bent to fit into any space.
Controlling the Hue Lightstrip is like controlling any other Hue lightbulb; utilising the Hue App on iOS and Android.
A UK release is set for October and Lightstrip Plus will be offered in both the 2m strips, as well as 1m extension strips.
