Prove your humanity

Retrotouch has announced that its Friends of Hue kinetic switches now integrate seamlessly with Control4 through a dedicated driver, enabling professional installers to deploy wireless, battery-free Control4 scene control without the need for wiring, back boxes, or batteries.

The integration allows Retrotouch switches to trigger full Control4 automation, including lighting, AV, blinds, climate and whole-home modes such as Away or Goodnight, via the Philips Hue bridge. For installers, this means the functionality of a Control4 keypad without the associated installation complexity.

Traditional Control4 keypads require wiring and wall preparation, adding time and cost to projects, particularly in retrofit scenarios. Retrotouch kinetic switches eliminate these constraints entirely. Self-powered through kinetic energy harvesting, the switches communicate wirelessly with Control4 via Hue, allowing installers to place scene control points anywhere without structural disruption.

This makes the solution particularly valuable for finished homes, heritage properties, glass walls, stone surfaces and other environments where running new cabling is impractical or undesirable.

The dedicated Control4 driver ensures straightforward setup within Composer and reliable scene triggering in live installations. Key benefits for installers include reduced installation time, kinetic operation eliminates ongoing maintenance and service visits, premium glass finishes complement high-end interiors and Control4 switching points can be added to existing properties without altering electrical infrastructure.

The switches do not replace Control4 keypads but expand where Control4 can be deployed, adding secondary switching points, audio playback or volume and scene controls in locations that would otherwise require significant installation work.
