AliceLuna is introducing a new smart mattress designed to create optimal conditions during sleep and when waking up by controlling a user’s home.
Luna’s device fits around the mattress like a cover and monitors whether those sleeping on it are asleep.
When it senses that they are, it can turn off any lights or change heating settings.
A key feature lies in its ‘dual zone temperature’ functionality, which means that it can monitor and heat different sides of the bed separately.
A built-in smart alarm wakes you at the right moment of light sleep, while the mattress can also turn on the lights and even start brewing coffee.
The device is being funded through a campaign on Indiegogo, which promises to ‘Turn Your Bed into a Smartbed’.
It normally costs £165, but can be bought for £117 through the Indiegogo campaign.
“For men, the most exciting part is our interaction with smart home devices — so the lights, your Netflix, Spotify,” says a Luna co-founder.
“For women, instead, it’s temperature. Couples argue about temperature – men love to sleep cold while women love to sleep hot and through the different temperature and zone control, it’s something we can solve.”
Data is stored on the smart mattress cover itself and is then sent to Luna for storage and analysis.

Remote Control
A user can also control Luna from their smartphone or tablet from wherever they are, which can be utilised for warming up a bed on a cold night while on your way home.

How do I turn Luna on and off?
Luna can be turned on/off automatically or through your phone. You can set your preference at the time of the set up or any time through your up.
How do I control Luna?
Using the Luna iOS or Android app you can: power Luna on and off, control temperature, visualise sleep metrics and set a smart alarm.
What happens if I switch sides of the bed?
In case you sleep with a partner, you just have to open the App and change the side of the bed in which you sleep. If you sleep alone, you don’t have to do anything given that you have already selected the full bed mode during setup. You can always go back to the settings and change the selection.
How warm can my bed get with Luna?
Typically Luna doesn’t warm your bed more than a few degrees, but it will never go above 86°F (30°C).
Does Luna support Wi-Fi pairing?
Yes. Luna is Wi-Fi enabled and supports pairing.
How much energy does it use? Will it increase my energy bill?
The power consumption for a full night of Luna, in cold weather, is equivalent to a 100W light bulb for about one hour. If you dial down your thermostat at night, you are going to save a lot of money.
Can I also access App functions on a web browser?
Yes, there will be a dashboard with all your metrics and information that you can use on your browser.
How do I install it if I have a mattress topper?
The manufacturer suggests that Luna is installed just underneath your bed sheets and over any mattress topper.
