Screen Innovations has announced that the technologically advanced CarbonBlack screen material for large venue projection is available. CarbonBlack screens rival the brightness, depth and clarity of LED videowalls at a fraction of the cost, boast seamless sizes up to 16’ x 99’, unlimited sizes seamed and 160 degree viewing cone without edge drop for an immersive viewing experience.

CarbonBlack harnesses the power and resolution of 4K laser projectors to offer dealers a value proposition for projects that require exceptional performance and design flexibility for large, immersive viewing experiences.

Created initially for large entertainment venues where visual immersion of the audience is imperative, CarbonBlack boasts a native 16’ x 99’ footprint, rolls up for easy transportation and handling, can be cut in any shape or size, can be mounted via SI’s wide range of screen assemblies, so is suitable for home cinema as well.

CarbonBlack screen fabric used in the brand’s Hybrid Pro Screens is a large-format imaging solution optimised to deliver superior contrast, colour accuracy, and sharpness of LED displays with the imaging flexibility (ultra-short-throw, standard-throw, edge blending) of projection screens and installation versatility of motorised assemblies.

According to the manufacturer, with CarbonBlack, 95% contrast is preserved in brightly lit environments, preserving the black levels, Edge Blend is capable of seamlessly combining multiple projectors and creating immersive and large-scale displays, it works with  all projection lens options (ultra-short throw, projected from above or below, standard throw, native 4k and laser), it boasts a 160 degree viewing cone with no edge drops, its fabric materials are easy to transport and install as it is foldable and portable, (10x less load-in/out, time, energy, and transport), it is available in an acoustically transparent option and it performs well as an acoustically transparent material, and it also carries the same ambient light rejecting qualities as its non-acoustic variation.

“CarbonBlack is a dream come true for large scale commercial venues,” says SI founder Ryan Gustafson. “No one has ever seen a black projection screen that performs just like a white screen. Now dealers can sell massive native 4K+ images at fractions of the cost of LED light wall, while maintaining the flexibility and upgradability for the future.”

Adele utilised CarbonBlack for her Weekends with Adele Las Vegas residency to accommodate 18 Panasonic PT-RQ50K 4k 50K laser video projectors. To ensure the projection surface wasn’t washed out when a light source was shone upon it, Production Manager Paul English opted for CarbonBlack.
