French loudspeaker manufacturer Triangle has unveiled Solstice, a new speaker range that replaces its long-running Esprit series.

Developed and manufactured in Soissons, France, Solstice is built on an entirely new platform featuring a redesigned horn tweeter, new driver architecture, revised cabinet construction and an integrated base design.

Triangle says the new range marks the next chapter for the company, introducing new technologies throughout while retaining the musical character that has defined its loudspeakers for more than three decades. Unlike previous generations of Esprit, Solstice has been designed from the ground up, with every major component re-engineered to improve frequency coherence, cabinet rigidity and reduce unwanted coloration.

The launch line-up comprises three models designed for both stereo and home cinema applications. The range includes the Solstice 8 floorstanding speaker, the Solstice 3 bookshelf speaker and the Solstice C3 centre channel, all sharing common driver technology, crossover principles and cabinet architecture. The speakers are available in White, Black Ash, Teak and Birch finishes, with matching stands also offered.

Among the key developments is the new TZ2540MG horn tweeter, developed specifically for the range. Triangle says the design combines an optimised waveguide with a new barrel structure to improve high-frequency dispersion and integration with the midrange driver, while an aluminium/magnesium dome, neodymium motor and revised phase plug contribute to improved performance.

Every driver in the Solstice range has also been redesigned. New die-cast aluminium baskets are intended to improve rigidity and airflow, while revised natural cellulose pulp cones are designed to increase radiating surface area and improve linearity. The Solstice 8 additionally features newly developed concave bass drivers intended to reduce distortion while maintaining controlled low-frequency performance.

Cabinet construction has also received significant attention. Triangle has introduced its Driver Vibration Absorption System (DVAS), which mounts each driver against a high-density internal brace with an EVA foam interface to reduce cabinet vibration. Rounded cabinet edges are designed to minimise diffraction, while the Solstice 8 incorporates a new integrated base combining a hidden laminar bass-reflex port with a dual-material cast-iron and silicone construction to improve vibration control and mechanical isolation.

The crossover network uses air-core inductors, MKT capacitors and oxygen-free copper internal wiring throughout the range. The Solstice 8 features dual speaker terminals for bi-wiring or bi-amping, while the Solstice 3 and Solstice C3 use single terminal connections.

Each model is supplied with colour-matched magnetic grilles, while sculpted silicone driver surrounds and champagne-finish aluminium trim rings form part of the overall design. The optional S05 speaker stand is designed specifically for the Solstice 3 and is available in matching finishes.

The Triangle Solstice range is available this month through authorised Triangle retailers.

Suggested retail pricing is £1,999 per pair for the Solstice 8, £999 per pair for the Solstice 3 and £579 each for the Solstice C3. Pricing for the S05 speaker stand is yet to be confirmed.
