PMC will unveil the new PMC10 XBD main monitor system at CEDIA 2026 as part of an immersive audio installation with its US distributor, Playback Custom.
Sound Room 6 will feature the first public presentation of the active PMC10 XBD Main Monitor system, demonstrating how the monitoring standards used to create film soundtracks can be carried directly into the finest residential cinemas.
Alongside three PMC10 XBD speakers for the front left, centre and right channels, eight Ci140s and six Ci65s from the Ci series will provide the surround and height channels.
The low-frequency foundation will be provided by six of the new PMC15 SUBs.
“This is going to shake things up a bit,” comments Rich Fairbrother of Playback Custom. “PMC speakers have long been used in the world of movie production, going right back to 1993 when the Oscar winning Hollywood film score engineer, Shawn Murphy, took delivery of the then flagship BB5 monitors.
“PMC has even won an Emmy for its role in movie production – no other speaker company can say that. That production heritage remains central to PMC’s position in custom cinema; its loudspeakers are developed first and foremost as professional reference monitors, but now the same qualities relied upon when soundtracks are composed, recorded, mixed and mastered can be replicated in the home environment. It will be unlike anything visitors to CEDIA Expo have heard.”
The PMC10 XBD combines dynamic range, deep bass extension and the openness and midrange clarity for which PMC’s large-scale professional monitors are renowned. It is a twin cabinet arrangement with two of PMC’s latest generation 10in bass drivers that have been created to work in harmony with an evolved ATL bass-loading system and LaminairX airflow technology.
They are matched with the latest iteration of the PMC 3in midrange dome, which has undergone a radical redesign and incorporates the proprietary a-void absorber, preventing rear-wave reflections from colouring the output for an open midrange. The hand-built 34mm soft-dome HF driver, with its low-distortion motor assembly, matched dome and shallow waveguide offers extended, fatigue-free listening.
Each of the three PMC10 XBD loudspeakers forming the left, centre and right channels is individually powered and controlled by its own dedicated PMC master36, also manufactured in-house. Each master36 combines advanced 32-bit DSP crossover processing with 3,600W of high-efficiency amplification, delivering 800W to the tweeter, 800W to the midrange driver and 1,000W to each of the two bass drivers.
The PMC15 SUBs are powered by PMC power20 rack-mountable amplifier units, each delivering 2,000W of ultra-clean Class-D amplification. Together, the three PMC10 XBD LCR channels form a fully active front stage within the complete immersive loudspeaker system, which is integrated and controlled by a StormAudio processor.

Demonstrations will run throughout the show. Special guest, the multiple Grammy and Emmy Award-Winning recording engineer Tommy Vicari (Barbra Streisand, Quincy Jones, Prince, and the annual Academy Awards) will present in Sound Room 6 at 2pm, 3pm and 4pm on Thursday 3 September.
