DoorBird has announced plans for a new integration with HomeLink, bringing smart entry functionality directly into the vehicle experience.

With this planned integration, DoorBird will enable users to interact with their access systems through the Smart Entry environment within the HomeLink app. This allows convenient in-vehicle control of doors, gates, and entry points via a connected, driver-focused interface.

Designed with convenience, safety, and minimal distraction in mind, the integration emphasises intuitive, glance-safe interaction and seamless access while on the go.

“The car is becoming an increasingly important control hub in everyday life,” says Sascha Keller, Founder and CEO at DoorBird. “Through our collaboration with HomeLink, we are extending secure access beyond the home and creating a more intuitive arrival experience for our users.”

DoorBird is developing this integration with an in-vehicle-first approach, enabling drivers to trigger access actions directly from their car. HomeLink’s mirror-integrated hardware buttons connect via Bluetooth to the user’s smartphone, which then communicates securely with DoorBird through its app and cloud infrastructure, eliminating the need for additional vehicle hardware.

The HomeLink solution also supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing DoorBird controls to appear within compatible infotainment systems. In addition, automakers can integrate this functionality directly into their infotainment environments through the HomeLink API.

With this integration, DoorBird continues to expand its smart access ecosystem beyond traditional residential applications, bringing connected entry experiences into everyday mobility.

“Access control is no longer limited to the doorway,” says Sascha. “Our goal is to deliver connected experiences that move seamlessly with our users throughout their day.”
