Onkyo has announced a brand new AV receiver in the form of the TX-SR373, an entry-level 5.1-channel AV receiver with some pretty high-end features; including 4K HDR video pass-through.

The TX-SR373’s flagship feature may be its 4K HDR video pass-through functionality, but Onkyo has also included lossless DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD support. It’s a little disappointing that there’s no Dolby Atmos or DTS:X support, but this is Onkyo’s entry-level offering.

Discrete analogue amplification produces 135 W/Ch (6 Ohms, 1 kHz, 1% THD, 1-channel driven), while the receiver also support Bluetooth for wirelessly streaming music from mobile devices.

Advanced Music Optimiser, an original DSP listening program that promises to enrich compressed audio playback (such as MP3/AAC/WMA formats from a connected USB memory device), is also available for Bluetooth streaming audio. A selection of listening modes are also available, including Direct Mode for high-quality sources such as SACD over HDMI or CD via pairs of digital or analogue audio inputs.

For the first time at this price point, Onkyo has included AccuEQ Room Calibration technology, which sets speaker distances according to listening position, adjusts output, selects crossover for the subwoofer, and performs audio equalisation.

Other features include two composite video inputs for legacy game consoles or VCRs, AM/FM radio tuner with 30 memory presets, and a full-sized remote controller to complement finger-friendly buttons on the front panel.

The Onkyo TX-NR373 AV receiver carries an RRP of £299 and is available now.
