Bang & Olufsen has announced the new generation Beosound A9 and Beosound 2. More than being available in new black anthracite, gold tone, and natural finishes, the two speakers now join Bang & Olufsen’s range of future-proof products on the Mozart software platform.
“Today, we are celebrating that we are future-proofing two of our most popular home speakers” says Bang & Olufsen’s Vice President of Product Marketing, Michael Henriksson. “Timeless design isn’t just about making products that are built to last, it’s also about creating designs that people will be captivated by, and proud to own, for decades.”
The heart of Bang & Olufsen’s Mozart platform is the replaceable module, frontloaded with enough processing power to receive software updates and features for many years to come. If the connectivity and streaming technology ever becomes obsolete, the module can be replaced with the latest version – providing great sound experiences for decades to come, says the company.
Beosound A9 5th Generation
The maker says Beosound A9 defines timeless design for Bang & Olufsen’s products of the present day. Originally launched in 2012, the circular-shaped design, created by Oivind Slaatto, is still today one of the most popular products from the brand. Beosound A9 has been created to fill a living space with rich and powerful sound, all whilst blending into any interior style.
The 5th generation of Beosound A9 embodies the original features that made it a success over 10 years ago, with detailed improvements. There are a new set of standard finishes, Black Anthracite, Gold Tone and Natural Aluminum. The back covers of the new standard finishes compliment the front covers, as do the oak legs and aluminium hardware finishes.
Alongside the new standard finishes of Beosound A9, this product can be fully customisable to compliment even the most eclectic room aesthetic, says its creator.
Beosound A9 is described as in equal parts aesthetically intriguing and easy to use. The music volume can be controlled by sliding a hand across its surface, and with a simple tap on the A9 users can skip, play, or pause a listening experience instantly. Adding the Mozart software module to Beosound A9 means that the 5th generation is also built for the future, with better connectivity, compatibility and new capabilities being added for years to come.

Beosound 2 3rd Generation
A staple of Bang & Olufsen’s portfolio, Beosound 2 is billed as a powerful multiroom speaker that matches a unique high-design aesthetic with stand-out sound. Originally launched in 2016 and now in its third iteration, Beosound 2 has been transported into the new generation of Bang & Olufsen sound.
Crafted from high-grade aluminium, a material now synonymous with Bang & Olufsen, the instantly recognisable cone shape of Beosound 2 commands attention no matter where it’s placed in the room.
Like Beosound A9, one of the major updates to Beosound 2 is the introduction of Mozart, ensuring the exterior craftsmanship and software longevity last for years to follow in equal measure, and that the speaker integrates into any luxurious multiroom system.
A striking new finish, Black Anthracite, joins the classic line up of Gold Tone and Natural. This new finish is matched with an improved user interface for ease of use, and the addition of Active Room Compensation, meaning Beosound 2 can detect its position in any space and distribute sound accordingly to ensure the optimum listening experience.
