Alcons Audio has introduced the CRMSQ, a modular line-source column array system expanding its Cinema Reference Monitor System (CRMS) Series. Designed for high-end home cinemas, post-production studios and performance spaces, the CRMSQ delivers ultra-low distortion, high-output sound with precise projection control, says the maker.
Modular Design for Any Room Size
The CRMSQ system is engineered to adapt to different room sizes using a scalable modular column array design. Key features include:
- 12in pro-ribbon MHF drivers paired with 6.5in woofers featuring Alcons’ Active Coil technology
- Patented constant directivity in the horizontal plane with 80-degree or 110-degree dispersion options
- Adjustable horizontal projection angle via Alcons Azimuth Adjust
- Ultra-slim profile, with a depth of just 10in (25.4cm)
This configuration ensures installers can achieve precise sound projection, reducing unwanted reflections while maintaining intelligibility and clarity.

High-Resolution Audio with Pro-Ribbon Technology
At the core of the CRMSQ system is Alcons’ RBN1203 12in pro-ribbon transducer, a technology also featured in the Q-series professional line-source columns. This multiple-patented driver delivers:
- Fast impulse response with minimal distortion, ensuring accurate sound reproduction at any volume
- Seamless cylindrical wavefront projection, allowing for multiple CRMSQ modules to be combined without phase interference
- Extended dynamic headroom with 4,000W of peak power handling from 1kHz up
By integrating studio monitor accuracy with live-sound dynamics, the CRMSQ enables 1:1 non-compressed sound reproduction, ensuring listeners experience audio exactly as intended.
Optimised for Home Theatres and Large-Scale Spaces
The CRMSQ’s directivity control and scalable configuration make it well suited for large home cinemas and performance spaces requiring consistent high-fidelity audio. The system’s advanced cylindrical wave projection allows for precise control over sound dispersion, reducing reflections from floors and ceilings while maintaining a wide stereo sweet spot.
With its modular expandability, active frontal radiation exceeding 90% and strong clarity with up to 90% less distortion than traditional systems, the CRMSQ represents a major advancement in high-end audio reproduction says the company.
