Prove your humanity

Onkyo & Pioneer Corporation has released a firmware update that activates IMAX Enhanced and Dolby Atmos Height Virtualizer on selected Pioneer network A/V receiver models.

By combining a TV display with an IMAX Enhanced certified Network AV Receiver that’s optimised to reproduce the full-dynamic-range IMAX signature sound experience in the home, cinephiles can enjoy IMAX Enhanced content at the highest levels, just as the filmmakers intended. IMAX Enhanced versions of films are scheduled for 4K HDR streaming and Ultra HD Blu-ray release.

Dolby Atmos Height Virtualiser, the latest surround technology developed by Dolby Laboratories, enables immersive listening with Dolby formats by creating a virtual surround and height effect from traditional speaker layouts. The idea is that Dolby Atmos can be enjoyed without the height speakers or Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers in layouts featuring more than two channels.

The update is available for Pioneer Network AV receivers: VSX-LX504 and VSX-LX304. Firmware can be downloaded and installed directly on network-connected components via the GUI, or downloaded to USB memory from the Pioneer website and installed via the receiver’s USB input.
