Faradite, the British smart home accessories manufacturer, has announced the addition of a volt-free variant to its range of low profile motion sensors that are designed for the modern smart home.
The maker says the Motion Sensor 360 – Volt Free was developed in response to demand from integrators for a volt-free version of its Motion Sensor 360 (0-10V LUX) that could be integrated into popular control systems such as Lutron, Crestron and Control4.
Key features highlighted by the manufacturer include that the sensor can be powered by a 5V-24V supply and the volt-free/dry contact interface allows for integration with multiple control systems.
The design is also very compact so that it sits just 3.5mm proud of the ceiling and is as small as a GU10 spotlight. This means it’s hardly visible when mounted, making it a strong choice for a design-conscious client and should keep interior designers happy too.
Faradite also underlines that the product is 100% silent, so no annoying noisy clicking relay as the sensor has a solid-state construction.
The sensor also uses the latest digital passive infra-red sensing technology to reduce lens size whilst maintaining range and viewing angle. Detection area is ~8m diameter when the sensor is mounted at a height of 3m; performance that is normally only achievable in sensors with larger, unsightly domes, says the maker.
The optional Fire IDR accessory provides a fire rating of 60 minutes, making it well suited to multi dwelling unit projects where it’s imperative that the fire rating of the ceiling is maintained. Push-fit and removable connectors ensure both an efficient installation and rapid temporary removal at various stages of the system commissioning.
Chris Turner, managing director at Faradite, explains, “Ease of installation and maintenance is one of the features that makes the Motion Sensor 360 range attractive to integrators.
“We help integrators secure projects by removing the aesthetic concerns of their clients, allowing them to focus on creating an amazing smart home experience with products that don’t detract from the architecture or design of the home or building.”
One of Faradite’s customers, Lee Price, operations director at lighting design and integrator company, Twisted Pear, says, “We’re very pleased with the sensor, it’s neat, small and quick. It will install on pretty much any system and clients love the small form factor and look.”
Faradite is proud to manufacturer its products in the UK and has been building its reputation and reach in recent times. All the products are CE marked and every unit is hand examined and goes through full functional end-to-end testing before being shipped.
