AliceIn early August, Just Add Power will release a firmware update for its 3G Ultra HD over IP range of devices, enabling them to support the distribution of 4K HDR content to multiple screens over a 1Gb network infrastructure.
The update means that 3G Ultra HD over IP products can be used to create any size of HDMI matrix, with installers being able to distribute a combination 4K HDR, 4K non-HDR, 1080p and lower resolution source device content to a mixture of HDMI 2.0 and 1.4 screens.
The receivers behind each display have a built-in scaler that allows 4K HDCP 2.2 encrypted content (HDR or otherwise) to be downscaled to 1080p for Full HD displays, but retained in 2160p with HDCP 2.2 in 4K zones.
The new firmware will work with the two most common HDR formats: Dolby Vision and HDR10.
“The addition of HDR-support means distributing 4K HDR content from devices such as the Kaleidescape Strato Player and Samsung UHD Blu Ray Player is simple and easy,” says Ed Qualls, founder and president of Just Add Power.
“Switching between different resolution of content (4K HDR, 4K non-HDR and 1080p) is seamless and does not cause any delay in switching.”
The firmware will be available to download from justaddpower.com.
UK Training Days
Just Add Power also announced that it will be hosting two UK training events in August. Installers are encouraged to book while spaces last.
The training days are suitable for those with little or no prior knowledge of installing network-based HDMI distribution systems and also serve as a refresher course for those looking to update their knowledge.
Attendees will learn how to set up a HDMI over IP video distribution system from scratch, create video walls, install a HDMI tiler to enable screens to do multivew and integrate third party control systems such as Control4.
Attendees will also gain the skills needed to approach large-scale HDMI distribution applications such as sports bars, casinos, multi-storey office projects and retail chains.
