AWE may be the distributor known for supplying every major brand of TV in the UK, but the company continues to diversify its portfolio. The latest addition to its offering is Sony’s range of home cinema projectors, representing a deepening in the relationship between AWE and Sony, with the former already distributing the latter’s TVs.
Sony has released a bunch of projectors in recent years and they have all been well received, with the company’s flagship model, the VPL-VW5000ES, having been described as ‘the best projector currently shipping’ by some reviewers. Other models have been equally praised, with models such as the VPL-VW270ES and VW570ES having been praised for their 4K resolution, vivid visuals and high brightness.
This isn’t AWE’s first time distributing projectors, as the company has already been a leading supplier for Epson projectors in the UK. The addition of Sony models will give installers more flexibility than ever, with a range of 4K lamp and laser-based models available.
Some of the highlights of Sony’s range available from AWE include:
- The Sony VPL-VW760ES laser projector, which features 4K native resolution, true 4K HDR upscaling and a high dynamic contrast. What’s more, this model has been designed with flexibility in mind, with its compact design making it capable of being high ceiling mounted.
- The Sony VPL-VW870ES 4K HDR projector also boasts a laser light source, one that’s capable of emitting 2,200 lumens of brightness. As the name suggests, it features a 4K processor and the ability to play high dynamic range content, while the Reality Creation technology can enhance Full HD content.
- The Sony VPL-VZ1000ES was first announced at CES 2017 and benefits from an ultra-short throw design meaning it can be placed just six inches from a projection surface and still produce a 100in image. It also feature true 4K resolution and a laser light source for a long lifetime.
While the new Sony projectors are the highlight to AWE’s latest additions, the refreshed partnership between the firms also includes Sony’s UBP-X1000ES professional 4K Blu-ray disc player, which is also now being distributed by AWE. This universal player enhances playback on non-HDR TVs with HDR to SDR conversion, grants access to the latest 4K HDR streaming services and supports playback of almost any disc or file format, making it an essential component of any home entertainment set up.
The AWE reference cinema at its HQ in Epsom is being upgraded with Sony projectors, and orders are being accepted now. The company will continue to distribute Epson projectors alongside new Sony models, offering a projector at every price point.
