Prove your humanity

Virgin Media has bolstered its TV Player package with the addition of 20 channels as part of a shake up to the way in which its customers can personalise their TV service.

All new and existing customers that have signed up to Virgin Media’s starter level TV tier – that boasts more than 100 channels – will benefit from Player’s largest ever roster of channels, which now includes the likes of Film 4+1, More 4+1 and Food Network.

The news comes as Virgin Media also announced a new way for its customers to bundle up broadband, TV, mobile and landline services all together in one place for the first time. This will give its customers greater flexibility and choice to take the services they really want and offer Virgin Media’s best value when all four services are combined.

Virgin Media customers currently signed up to its Player tier will also benefit  from Personal Picks, which will allow them to tailor their TV options to create a personalised TV line-up and control the price they pay for the telly they love every month.

Customers can add up to four Entertainment Picks: Entertainment & Drama, Entertainment & Documentaries, Entertainment & Lifestyle and Entertainment & Sport Lite.

Each Pick includes Sky One, Sky Witness, Gold HD and Comedy Central HD as well as a great selection of channels relating to each of the four genres, plus must-see box sets.

Customers can add one Pick to their bundle for £10 per month with each subsequent Pick costing £7 per month.  Picks can be changed every month.

A dedicated Kids Pick is also available on Player and will keep Virgin Media’s youngest viewers entertained for just £5 per month. This includes 11 channels, such as Disney XD, Nickelodeon and the Cartoon Network, as well as many episodes available via catch-up and box sets.

Customers can also add a range of premium TV packs to their bundle such as Sky Sports, Sky Cinema HD and BT Sport, as well as subscribe to Netflix, Hayu and Starzplay.

Commenting on Personal Picks, Virgin Media’s Chief Operating Officer, Lutz Schüler, says, “Our new Personal Picks mean viewers can tune into the shows they love, picking and mixing the best channels around with the freedom and flexibility to change them every month.”

Introducing the best of Virgin Media: V.VIP

With Virgin Media’s new top-tier bundle, V.VIP, customers can enjoy the ultimate entertainment and connectivity experience – at home or on the move, says the provider.

This includes the UK’s fastest widely available broadband with average download speeds of 516Mbps – said to be seven times faster than BT and Sky, as well as a mobile SIM with unlimited data, texts and calls.  Plus, there’s TV with two of Virgin TV’s latest V6 set-top boxes complete with more than 300 channels including Sky Sports HD, Sky Cinema HD and BT Sport in 4K Ultra HD, as well as inclusive anytime landline calls.

The 500Mbps is available exclusively for V.VIP customers and means that a 4K UHD film (average size 20GB) can be downloaded in under six minutes – compared to an hour on the UK’s average connection.  A popular PlayStation 4 game, for example Red Dead Redemption 2 (99GB download), can be downloaded in around 28 minutes compared to more than five hours on the UK’s average connection.
