This has culminated in the embarrassment of missed critical moments in surveillance, live broadcasting or recording operations.
New instant video matrix switching
ATEN’s new seamless VM switch range provides the fastest video switching on today’s market and features:
• live streaming
• smooth real-time remote video switching, without delays or blank screens
• stable signal transmission
• the ability to capture real-time visuals from multiple angles
• instant remote video wall management
• high-performance scaling to secure optimal image quality across dissimilar displays
• high-quality video transmission across relatively long distances.
Within the HDMI arena, the VM5808 enables you to control up to eight video sources and eight displays, while the VM5404 has the capacity for four sources and four displays.
Both seamless instant switch systems have built-in video wall functionality.
Instant switching to the naked eye
ATEN’s unique engine on each output ensures that video switching takes place within a fraction of a second and thus appears smooth and instantaneous.

Scaling video images for simultaneous use on different outputs
The VM5808 and VM5404 all have built-in scaling intelligence that adjusts video formats to optimise display resolutions on a range of outputs, which provides a consistent, high-quality viewing experience across a range of devices.
Video wall integration and large-scale surveillance
The dynamic scaling ability within the range of ATEN’s VM solutions enables operators to apply video combinations to a variety of creative screen arrangements on video walls. This also presents a variety of opportunities to concurrently display a large amount of information, from different sources, throughout time-critical events.
Supports quality and distance
These digital matrix switches support resolutions up to 1080p, 1920×1200@60Hz, Dolby True HD and DTS HD Master Audio.
Its FPGA (field-programmable gate array) design secures superior video quality and enables signals to travel longer distances to the display devices.
ATEN’s five secrets of seamless switching
There are five functions within the VM range that enable seamless switching:
1) independent EDID (extended display identification data) handshaking
2) independent HDCP (high-bandwidth digital content protection)
3) maintaining continuous AV signal to scale video content from its source to fit the video format of the display
4) an internal pixel clock generator for the display
5) an internal frame buffer to prevent garbage content.
