AV systems specialist ATEN will unveil its VM1600 matrix switcher, for the first time in the UK, on September 17, at the Midwich Technology Exposed show.

It’s the world’s first controller that enables users to instantly switch between, and simultaneously control, up to 16 video sources and 16 displays through expandable I/O boards on a single chassis.

The VM1600 is the only 16×16 modular digital matrix seamless switch available that can reliably monitor or broadcast time-critical activities.

Its continuous video stream with real-time switching and signal transmission stability means it’s the only solution truly ‘fit for purpose’ with modern standards in many scenarios including live event broadcasting, security and emergency service surveillance and transport management.

It also has a unique, built-in scaler function so that video outputs can be scaled up or down to fit in variable screen layouts and arrangements, making it ideal to distribute to videowalls.

Daniel Hinton, VanCryst sales manager at ATEN UK, says: “The VM1600 is a revolutionary leap for high-end pro AV. With its 16×16 modular matrix, along with its instant, seamless switching capabilities, ATEN is the first to provide a fully integrated videowall solution which makes temporary blank screens a thing of the past. We are really excited to be bringing this product to the market and, with Midwich, we have the perfect partners to help drive ATEN across numerous vertical markets.”

He adds: “The Technology Exposed event is an excellent shop window for ATEN and we are confident the VM1600’s capabilities will harness considerable interest from integrators and end-users alike.”

With its high-end specifications, the VM1600 fills a gap in the market. Laura Hood, ATEN UK product specialist at Midwich, comments: “Launching the VM1600 at Technology Exposed is particularly exciting. We fully expect to be working with more pro AV accounts with this product and, with HDBaseT cards and 4K upgradability – the possibilities are endless.”
