Onkyo has released details of a new 2.1 AV system. The LS5200 is aimed at the affordable home cinema market joining Onkyo’s family of Envision Cinema products.
The LS5200 package launches together with a slimline TX-L20D network stereo receiver and 5.1-channel TX-L50 network AV receiver aimed at users looking for an unobtrusive, but musical receiver to drive their choice of stereo bookshelf or micro-surround speaker system.
The system is described as offering solid, subtly contoured components and intuitive operation, integrating the latest in App-based entertainment.
The system provides access to AirPlay, Spotify, Google Cast and Wi-Fi networking, enabling instant casting from smartphone and PC Apps. All receivers feature Bluetooth wireless technology and have a variety of popular music streaming and Internet radio services built into the receiver GUI and control App.

Onkyo’s TX-L50
The LS5200’s receiver delivers 2 x 85W of power to drive a pair of dedicated two-way stereo speakers with the manufacturer says offer depth and clarity. Phase-matching technology is in place to offer a cohesive stereo image, from deep bass generated by the included wireless subwoofer to high-frequency notes aired by soft-dome tweeters.
Changing TV audio to cinema sound is easy with a single-cable HDMI connection supporting HDCP 2.2 for 4K UltraHD entertainment.
The LS5200 also decodes lossless film soundtracks such as DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD and has a range of DSP listening modes.
Digital and analogue audio inputs, phono equaliser and a file-audio-ready USB input offer a choice of music listening options, while FM/RDS and DAB+ tuners are also included.
FireConnect audio distribution technology can transmit any audio source from home cinema to optional wireless speakers (scheduled for future release) in other rooms, with multi-zone control enabled via the App.
Boasting a similar specification as the LS5200 receiver, the TX-L20D Network Stereo Receiver matches with most quality bookshelf speakers, while the TX-L50 can expand to a 5.1-channel speaker layout should users desire a surround-sound experience.
