Henley Audio appointed Andover Audio UK distributor

Henley Audio has been appointed as the UK distributor of Andover Audio, adding the Boston-based audio maker to its portfolio of specialist audio and home entertainment products.

Andover Audio designs products with a focus on making high-quality audio easy to integrate into modern spaces. Its philosophy, summed up as ‘Hi-Fi for Modern Living’, is about making it easier to enjoy good sound without having to dedicate a room or build a system around bulky equipment.

Bob Hazelwood, Andover’s Director of Engineering and Product Development, brings decades of experience in audio and extensive expertise in speaker design and audio engineering.

The first Andover products to be distributed by Henley Audio in the UK are SpinBase 2 and SpinBase MAX 2 – compact powered speaker systems designed to sit beneath a turntable, offering a smart way to build or upgrade a vinyl system.

The idea behind SpinBase is straightforward: rather than adding a separate amplifier, speakers and associated cabling, a turntable can sit directly on top of a single compact system. For existing turntable owners, it offers a simple way to upgrade their setup, while those new to vinyl can build a system without having to assemble separate components.

Both SpinBase models use Andover’s patented IsoGroove technology, developed to control vibration and help prevent acoustic feedback when a turntable is placed directly on the speaker. They also feature a built-in phono stage, allowing a turntable to connect directly, alongside Bluetooth and other wired inputs for additional sources.

The compact design makes SpinBase suited to a main listening system, as well as bedrooms, home offices, smaller living spaces and second systems – anywhere there is room for a turntable but not necessarily the desire or space for a full component hi-fi system.

“We’re delighted to add Andover to our portfolio,” says Laurence Armstrong, Managing Director at Henley Audio. “SpinBase offers a straightforward route into vinyl, particularly where space, simplicity or flexibility are important. Whether it’s a second system, a smaller room or simply a different way of enjoying vinyl, it gives customers a flexible solution that complements the breadth of our existing range.”

The SpinBase 2 is the more compact of the two models, combining 70W of amplification with a four-speaker, 270-degree array. At just 83mm high, it is designed for anyone looking to add or upgrade a turntable system without taking up much space.

The SpinBase MAX 2 takes the same basic concept and adds more power and scale, with 100W of amplification and a six-speaker, 270-degree array. Its larger cabinet and deeper bass response make it suited to listeners looking for a more substantial presentation, while retaining the same compact under-turntable format.

Both models can be used with a wide range of turntables and offer a selection of wired and wireless connections, making them flexible enough to serve as a standalone music system, as well as a speaker for a record player.

SpinBase 2 is priced at £349, while SpinBase MAX 2 is priced at £549. Both models are available now in limited quantities, with further stock expected in the run-up to Christmas.

They are available in the UK through Henley Audio’s network of authorised retailers.
