ADT’s US-exclusive Pulse home security system can now get a little help from Amazon’s AI assistant Alexa.

Announced at CES 2017, the ADT Pulse skill for Amazon Alexa should arrive in US households this month and will let users control their home security using their voice. Using Alexa homeowners will be able to ask Alexa to engage and disengage the security system simply by giving her the four-digit PIN code. This should help ADT Pulse customers who often find themselves clamouring for a key fob to disarm the alarm.

ADT Pulse is still only available to US customers, despite launching two years ago. In the UK ADT has started to branch into the smart home with ‘ADT Smart Home’, which launched in March 2016, but it has yet to reach the smarts of the US-exclusive ADT Pulse.

Amazon has had a successful CES 2017 in terms of products with Alexa integration or newly launched Alexa skills, and it’s set to continue growing over the next few months. ADT isn’t the first security company to work with Alexa however, although it is the first professional home security system to hook up with Amazon’s AI.
