Humax Launches V2G-Ready MX7 EV Charger Range for UK Market

Humax announces the upcoming launch of the MX7 – its second-generation electric vehicle charger, developed for residential and business users in the UK. The new 7kW charger supports both socket-type and tethered models, and will be available from June 2025 via the Humax Charging website.

Designed with Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) capability in mind, the MX7 features an integrated Power Line Communication (PLC) module and ISO 15118 protocol, allowing seamless communication with compatible electric vehicles. This paves the way for bi-directional charging, enabling users to potentially return energy to the grid and optimise their energy usage.

The MX7 is compatible with most EV tariffs, supporting cost-saving charging during off-peak hours. It also works with solar installations, allowing homeowners to charge their vehicles using surplus energy. Smart scheduling and adjustable charging levels offer added flexibility and control.

Safety remains a core focus, with built-in temperature sensors, overcharge protection and tamper-detection features. The units are also OZEV approved and fully compliant with UK regulations.

For business users, the MX7 includes support for Auto Charge via ISO 15118, eliminating the need for RFID cards or apps. It allows for automatic vehicle recognition, simplifying home charging reimbursement for company fleets and integrating with major third-party platforms for streamlined management.

With a modern design and a choice of interchangeable facias, the MX7 range is intended to blend with contemporary homes. A hinged front panel simplifies installation, offering easy access during setup.

Jeff Kim, president of Humax, says, “We have developed the MX7 to provide both residential and business users with a combination of efficient EV charging, energy optimisation and cost reduction in one solution. With the growing adoption of electric vehicles and smart grid integration, we designed this range to ensure ultimate home energy optimisation as well as straightforward management of EV fleets.”

The MX7 series will be available from June 2025. Prices start at £649 for the socket version, £669 for the tethered model with a 5m cable, and £699 for the 7m cable variant. All models come with a manufacturer’s warranty of up to five years and access to a UK-based customer support centre.
