Fyne Audio brings walnut veneer to F500SP series

Fyne Audio has launched a real wood walnut veneer finish for its F500SP Series loudspeakers. The move brings a touch of Woodstock era warmth to Fyne’s most accessible UK-built special production model.

Crafted from real walnut veneer sourced from sustainable forests, the new finish is meticulously hand-applied and hand finished by Fyne’s European cabinet making partner, renowned for its bespoke cabinetry and high-end furniture. The speakers are then built, tested and finessed at the Fyne Glasgow factory.

This walnut veneer finish follows the strong reception enjoyed by similar treatments on Fyne Audio’s higher tier loudspeakers. The move continues the Glasgow brand’s drive to trickle down technology and aesthetics from its high-end models, to bring the benefits of point source loudspeaker technology available to the widest audience.

While the finish may be new, the engineering beneath remains pure F500SP. The compact standmount F500SP loudspeaker distils technologies drawn directly from Fyne Audio’s flagship ranges into a more attainable form factor. The floorstanding F501SP and F502SP bring scale and additional power to the sound and offer a larger canvas to enjoy the depth, texture and grain of the real wood veneer.

At the heart of the F500SP Series lies Fyne’s IsoFlare point source driver, derived from the high end F700 Series. This advanced design combines a multi-fibre bass/mid cone with Fyne’s FyneFlute surround, ensuring controlled energy termination and clean, natural midrange performance.

High frequencies are handled by magnesium dome compression tweeters with a neodymium magnet system, extensive heatsinking and a vented rear chamber, delivering smooth, extended response out to 30kHz and beyond.

The IsoFlare configuration provides true point source behaviour with isotropic radiation, creating precise stereo imaging and musical coherence.

The F500SP Series cabinet is itself an enhanced evolution of the award-winning F500 design, constructed using higher density fibreboard and reinforced to minimise unwanted resonance.

Fyne’s proprietary BassTrax Tractrix diffuser is mounted to a substantial aluminium base plate, transforming downward firing port energy into a smooth 360 degree wavefront that disperses evenly into the room.

The F501SP and F502SP use a bespoke F700 Series style aluminium twin layer sandwich plinth and machined aluminium hardware, including spacer, spikes and knurled locking nuts. The result is an extended bass range and 360-degree LF wavefront for easier in room integration.

The spikes are top adjustable, using Fyne’s signature alloy tool supplied, to ease the process of stabilising the cabinet in position.

Internally, the crossover design and component selection borrow heavily from Fyne’s higher end models, including low-loss laminated core inductors, high grade polypropylene capacitors and Van den Hul silver-plated OFC wiring.

A five terminal bi-wire binding post system even allows for driver chassis grounding, ensuring the signal path stays as clean as a freshly pressed LP.

The new walnut veneer models retain premium design details, including magnetically attached grilles and a diamond cut driver chassis.

The new natural walnut veneer finished F500SP Series models are available to order now at no extra cost over the Piano Gloss Black and Piano Gloss White versions.
