At the EI Live! Show, taking place September 18-19 2024 at the Farnborough Exhibition Centre, PMC will host the UK debut of its multichannel amplifier, the power 750-8, which has been specifically designed to meet the needs of the custom installation, home cinema and professional immersive audio markets requiring multiple speaker systems. PMC will also use EI Live! to present its new Active twenty5i series to the UK CI market.
The PMC power 750-8 is an eight-channel amplifier that combines transparent and neutral sound with a power output of 750 watts per channel. When bridged and configured as a four-channel amplifier, the power 750-8 can deliver 1,500 watts per channel.
Designed to power any passive PMC speaker, this 2U rack-mounted amplifier is particularly well suited for use with PMC’s Ci series of slimline monitors, which are now widely used for surround and ceiling channels in Dolby Atmos home cinema installations and professional studios.
In addition, the power 750-8 also offers fully featured DSP control for each of the eight channels. Inputs are selectable/switchable as either balanced analogue or Dante.
Adjusting EQ for each channel is also incredibly easy thanks to System Engineer software that can be installed on any PC to control and set up any number of amps. This powerful yet intuitive software gives a full toolbox to allow users to configure each speaker to deliver its best performance according to room acoustics and position within the room.
The burgeoning market for high-end Dolby Atmos home cinema installations and music mixing has been a key factor in PMC’s decision to launch the power 750-8.
The company’s CI series speakers are now widely regarded as the standard reference for Dolby Atmos for Music thanks to their almost limitless headroom, power capabilities, pin-point accuracy and sonic fidelity, which ensures that they go well beyond Dolby’s minimum requirements.

Meanwhile, the new Active twenty5i series comprise four,two-way, models which provide an optimised solution for installers’ music-loving customers who are looking for PMC’s studio quality sound, with its ultra-high resolution and clarity, from a fuss-free system that dispenses with the need for external amplification.
Building on the company’s 30+ years of manufacturing class-leading studio monitors with active amplification, the Active twenty5i series brings the same approach to PMC domestic audio systems for the first time.
With integrated electronics and perfectly matched amplification, the Active twenty5i models enable superb performance without requiring a separate power or integrated amplifier. All that is required is to add a pre-amp or streaming device to create a complete high-resolution system.
Each drive unit in the Active twenty5.21i, 22i, 23i and 24i models is directly coupled to a dedicated and perfectly matched 100w power amplifier, designed to control the driver with grip and precision.
In circuit before the power amplifiers is a custom-designed analogue crossover, which splits the frequency bands of the incoming line-level signal and ensures each amplifier only supplies the signals appropriate for its drive unit.
Oliver Thomas, commercial director, and head of design, explains the thinking behind the new Active series, “Active amplification allows for superior control of the drive units within a loudspeaker, for absolute precision of their musical reproduction. Our active studio monitors, used to create much of the world’s best music, have been built around our in-house designed amplifiers and active crossovers from day one and benefit from over 30 years’ experience. It is the best way to power a speaker and we know that discerning CI customers looking for a stand-alone system are going to love the huge improvements in performance they will experience.”
