PMC will use EI Live! to showcase the loudspeakers used to make the movies and replay them in the best home cinemas, bringing the true soundtrack experience to the custom installation market.
The PMC Ci series is a range of slimline in-wall and on-wall models that was developed by combining technologies from the company’s acclaimed audiophile hi-fi speakers and industry-leading professional studio monitors.
The Ci series products are also featured in the premier studios across the world and are the benchmark speakers for Dolby Atmos mixing.
Like all PMC speakers, the six Ci series models feature the company’s proprietary ATL bass loading technology and Laminair air flow control for ultra-low distortion and high-resolution playback. Each model is designed with a shallow depth for on-wall mounting and may also be used in-wall.
This gives the installer greater mounting flexibility, enabling them to offer a truly audiophile-level experience from a highly discreet system. The ability to specify the same speakers used by the movie makers is the only way to offer customers the experience the director and composer heard when making the soundtrack.
The company’s history with movie-making can be traced back to 1993, when it supplied the then flagship BB5 monitors to Hollywood film score engineer, Shawn Murphy (Academy Award winner for Jurassic Park).
Since then, many other notable composers and engineers, including Dennis Sands (The Lion King), James Newton-Howard (The Dark Knight) and Thomas Newman (Skyfall-007) have specified PMC for use on the biggest blockbusters. PMC was recognised for its contribution to recording excellence with the awarding of an Emmy in 1996.
PMC will also present the PMC8-2 XBD studio monitors, (used by Dolby for reference and equally at home in the studio or home theatre), allowing a further glimpse inside the world of music and movie production, where these powerful and ultra-accurate monitors are often found as the front LCR, alongside the Ci series in the surround and height roles.
Complementing the Ci series is the feature-rich DSP multi-channel amplifier, the PMC power 750-8. This eight-channel amplifier combines an exceptionally transparent and neutral sound with a massive power output of 750 watts per channel.
When bridged and configured as a four-channel amplifier, the power 750-8 can deliver 1,500 watts per channel. With the powerful, yet intuitive, System Engineer software, adjusting EQ is easy – providing a full toolbox to configure each speaker to deliver its best performance according to room acoustics and position within the room.
“We are very excited and proud to bring the ‘real’ movie soundtrack experience to the custom installation channel and to its customers,” says Alister Smith, UK Sales Manager. “No other brand of speakers available in the CI space can boast the same movie making credentials as PMC, making them the perfect choice for discerning clients who want to hear exactly what the director heard.”
The PMC team will be available throughout the show on stand 59 to discuss the products and installers requirements.
