A progress report from Ian Morrish, Founder of Together For Cinema on a major fund raising effort.
In case you’re not already aware Chris Pinder, Managing Director of both HDANYWHERE and OneAV is doing something incredible this week. Please do read on as his efforts deserve our industry’s attention – thank you…
Quite simply Chris is running the Marathon des Sables (MDS) to help raise funds for Together For Cinema, and to help secure and further the delivery of cinema room facilities to children’s hospices and other good causes. The MDS is a race the equivalent of 6 marathons in 6 days in the Sahara desert in heat up to 50°C. Sounds bonkers doesn’t it, and yes, it is!
Chris, along with over 1,000 other contestants started the race on Sunday and has now completed his first three days and his times and positions are shown below:-
• Day 1 (Sunday March 27th): Time – 3 hours, 36 minutes and 22 seconds. Day Position – 118. Race position – 118.
• Day 2 (Monday March 28th): Time – 6 hours, 20 minutes and 52 seconds. Day Position – 201. Race position – about 180.
• Day 3 (Tuesday March 29th): Time – 4 hours, 52 minutes and 55 seconds. Day Position – 137. Race position – 145.
He has already achieved something incredible but today is the BIG day, a brutal 85km stage (about 53 miles). The distance is tough enough anyway, let alone in the desert, the heat and having to carry all your water and provisions for the day!
I know a little of what Chris has gone through to get himself in shape for this and I tip my hat to his commitment and determination. I am genuinely in awe of what he is doing and the drive behind it. I know we all wish him well for the coming three days and look forward to hearing of him crossing the line on Friday in as good a shape as he can possibly be. What he is doing is incredible and is of course for a wonderful cause. So far Chris has raised an amazing £25,000 and is now targeting the figure of £30,000. Can you or your company help get him there?
To learn more, or to donate please go here, every pound donated will help Chris with his next step and ultimately make a difference to so many children and young adults in the UK. Just think if you or your colleagues did this wouldn’t you want the industry to get behind them?
If you want to follow Chris’s progress over the next few days please go here and search for Bib Number 581, and his stats should be displayed. You can follow him ’in race’ or simply check up whenever you choose.
I’ll update you over the weekend with how Chris finished his incredible journey and I wish you well until then.
