Optoma is finally ready to debut a laser version of its flagship UHD projector, and it’s called the UHZ65. Following on from the lamp-based model, the UHD65, the UHZ65 features all the same specifications, although the lamp has been swapped out in favour of a laser light source.
Kishan Mistry, senior product manager at Optoma EMEA, says: “Reviews for the UHD65 have been excellent so we’re excited to be unveiling the next evolution of 4K home cinema projection with the UHZ65. Ultra-High Definition coupled with laser technology delivers a truly spectacular experience for film fanatics, and the addition of the UHZ65 to our home range offers the ultimate in-home projection.”
Equipped with high-quality laser illumination, the UHZ65 provides increased efficiency to maintain consistent brightness, superior colour performance, instant on/off and a life span of up to 20,000 hours.
Capitalising on the fast switching speed of the DLP chip with XPR technology and advanced image processing, 8.3m pixels are delivered to the screen without alignment issues, especially critical at 4K, with four times as many pixels as 1080p.
With its full 8.3m on-screen pixels, the new model meets the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) requirements for 4K UHD and complies with the CTA High Dynamic Range (HDR) compatible display standards. This guarantees razor sharp, vivid images capable of showing more details than standard HD.
The UHZ65 fully supports HDCP 2.2, the latest evolution of copy protection so users can enjoy the fast-growing choice of 4K content.
Featuring Optoma’s Amazing Colour technology, users have the freedom to select the best setting for the content. Reference mode reproduces true to life 80% DCI-P3 colour reproduction – ensuring reproduction of cinematic colour – exactly as the director intended.
With its sleek black casing and 3000 lumens, this model produces stand-out images for those looking for a dedicated home cinema projector. The UHZ65 also boasts sophisticated PureMotion frame-interpolation technology. This advanced processing eliminates motion blur or image judder, even in high-speed action films or fast-paced sports.
Packed with the latest features, the new model is whisper quiet and comes complete with integrated speakers that provide powerful 8W audio, with exceptional sound quality. S/PDIF audio output is also included, enabling connection to external sound systems.
Installation is designed to be simple with vertical lens shift, 1.6x zoom and a host of connection options such as two HDMI ports and Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL) for compatible phones and tablets. In addition, the UHZ65 can be turned into a smart projector by connecting a HDMI dongle like the Google Chromecast or Amazon Fire TV to access popular media services and stream TV shows, films and video clips, play games and share photos on the big screen.
