StormAudio has announced a series of innovations that enhance its audio processing solutions. With new hardware and software upgrades, the company says it continues to deliver exceptional performance, flexibility and reliability to meet the evolving needs of customers.
ADEC: The next-generation decoder
StormAudio has unveiled the next evolution of audio processors with the introduction of the new decoder section: ADEC (Advanced DECoder). This cutting-edge upgrade solidifies the brand’s commitment to delivering unparalleled audio performance and innovation for valued customers, says the maker.
StormAudio says the new decoder section represents a groundbreaking achievement in the development of high-end audio processors, delivering both unmatched technical capabilities and practical benefits for users.
Enhanced processing power for superior performance
The processing power has been enhanced, thanks to a new processor that packs both advanced dual-core DSP and ARM core. It enables better performance, while unlocking new features, for an even richer and more immersive audio experience.
Superior decoding performance
Achieved by rewriting the entire code, resulting in faster switching times (2.5x) and seamless integration of future audio technologies.
Enhanced immersive audio with impressive accuracy
Fully certified for the latest formats, including Dolby Atmos, DTS:X Pro, Auro-3D, MPEG-H and Sony 360 Reality Audio, this new decoder handles demanding immersive audio formats and ensures a sound experience that faithfully reflects the artist’s or director’s vision, even in complex multi-channel setups, as well as delivering full immersion with precise spatial positioning of audio objects.

Powerful multichannel processing for ultimate flexibility
The ADEC currently supports up to 35 channels, offering a strong solution for sophisticated, customised home cinema setups, and delivers ultra-low latency and synchronisation across all channels, ensuring seamless playback.
Seamless integration and gradual rollout
The new ADEC hardware will be gradually integrated across all StormAudio units in the coming months. It is already featured in units shipping from France, including the ISP Evo, ISP Elite, and ISR Fusion. Integration into the ISP Core 16 is scheduled for the second half of 2025.
Future-proof compatibility for existing owners
Proof of our commitment to design future-proof products, this hardware upgrade is fully compatible with all existing StormAudio ISP models, including the Elite, Core, Evo, Fusion, and Master. Additionally, owners of Focal Astraland Bryston SP4, running the optional StormAudio firmware upgrade, can also benefit from this new evolution. The upgrade will be available before the end of Q1 2025, ensuring that every customer can enjoy the latest advancements without replacing their entire unit.
New ESS Sabre DACs for enhanced performance
As part of our continuous commitment to quality, StormAudio is transitioning to the new Hyperstream IV ESS Sabre DACs, replacing the previous DACs that have reached the end of their lifecycle. These new components have been introduced to ensure consistent high-performance audio processing and maintain our industry-leading standards. Existing owners will be able to benefit from this upgrade starting in the second half of 2025, reinforcing our promise of future-ready solutions.

Major software update coming
StormAudio is also preparing a major software update to enhance functionality and usability, scheduled for release early Q2 2025. Key features include:
• Improved EQ functionality for greater precision in audio tuning.
• New upmix settings to expand adaptability across content types.
• Management of multi-way subwoofers via the StormEasy wizard for simplified setups.
• Improved output mapping to support complex configurations.
• Enhanced latency management for strong synchronisation.
These hardware and software updates are just the beginning of what’s ahead says the company. As the maker continues to innovate, these advancements will serve as the backbone for a new generation of products designed to push the boundaries of immersive audio experiences. Whether it’s expanding channel capabilities, integrating cutting-edge audio formats, or developing tools that make setup and calibration more intuitive, the roadmap is focused on meeting the demands of both integrators and end-users.
