Prove your humanity

The ‘Discover OLED’ campaign – which will run throughout the lead up to Christmas – promotes LG’s OLED television. Filmed in Iceland, the TV advertisement portrays the extent to which man will go to capture the perfect picture, showcasing the volcanic landscape of Europe’s most sparsely populated country.

Through the photographic voyage, LG takes the viewer through the waterfalls and caverns of the island – recognisable from Hollywood blockbusters such as Prometheus and Tom Cruise’s Oblivion. The TV ad is accompanied by a specially commissioned composition by Australian audio designers Song Zu.

Working with Brand&Deliver, Arena Media and HSAd, LG’s television advertising spots will be broadcast during major programmes including I’m a Celebrity, X Factor and Gogglebox.

Alongside this broadcast activity, LG’s campaign also features a major experiential and outdoor aspect centred at London Waterloo Station from December 1-9.

Commuters will be able to encounter first-hand LG’s new EC930 Curved OLED TV and be able to take advantage of exclusive sales opportunities. The station reportedly handles over 300,000 passengers a day and forms a central part of LG’s campaign.

This activity, led by experiential agency, Cake, will be supported by digital activity, including a microsite and social media activity, including a competition for the chance to win a 55in EC930 Curved OLED TV.

“OLED is the Future of TV – and this is an incredible opportunity to bring the OLED story to UK consumers,” comments Andrew Mackay, LG commercial director, consumereElectronics (UK and Ireland).

“We welcome Consumers to ‘Discover LG OLED’ – the Ultimate Display – and are investing strongly in our unique technology to build LG brand values and support retail partners in the peak selling season.

“We wanted a visual journey to match the incredible viewing experience that LG’s OLED technology brings to the home,” he explains.

“LG leads the way in developing this revolutionary display and we feel that this campaign really does justice to the immersive power of OLED. It is an incredible display technology, and one that truly delivers the next generation of home entertainment. OLED really is the future of television, and we’re proud to share this message with the UK.”

LG is also the first manufacturer to commercialise 4K OLED. The first of these will arrive in-store throughout the UK this December.
