Prove your humanity

Freeview is down in various parts of the UK, with customers up and down the country unable to watch TV channels on the platform. The first outage was reported last night, just in time for the Great British Bake Off final, and has continued well into the morning.

According to Downdetector, as of 9am more than 517 users were still reporting the service as being down. That includes areas in London, Northampton, Dorchester, Chelmsford, Birmingham, Colchester, Poplar, High Wycombe, Holborn, and Bromsgrove.

As of writing this article, Freeview still seems to be down for many customers across the country. Although the company states that it’s unable to fix the issue, as it’s being caused by the weather.

A spokesperson from Freeview notes: “TV and radio signals can be affected by atmospheric conditions, including high air pressure (which brings fine weather), heavy rain or snow.

We’re aware that high air pressure is currently affecting TV and radio signals for some viewers. We’re unable to prevent or remedy this, normal services will return once the weather changes”

This doesn’t appear to affect any other TV providers, including Sky and Freesat. Although those providers can also be affected by adverse weather conditions.
