Prove your humanity

Dave Donald, long-time business partner of Jeremy Burkhardt, has left Origin Acoustics to join Kaleidescape, maker of high-performance media servers.

Donald tells CE Pro that “Jeremy and I had a grand old time. We got it (Origin) off the ground and I’m happy.”

Donald joined the Origin kick-off team as vice president of sales last year.

“Our 12-month plan was awesome,” Jeremy tells CE Pro. “We have the dealer base built and now must service like crazy.”

Donald says he was approached by Kaleidescape CEO Cheena Srinivasan: “He didn’t say, ‘Here’s a job.’ He said, ‘What would you love to do?’

“I said I’d like to be a product evangelist. He said, ‘We have that position for you.’”

At which point, Donald breaks out into evangelism, extolling the virtues of the Kaleidescape Alt: “It happens to be an amazing Blu-ray player. You can access the video store, download movies; all of that stuff for $2,500 (£1600). This should go into every system you sell, so they want Apple TV? Fine, give them Apple TV and put an Alto in there too.”

Donald says he’ll be traveling with Kaleidescape representatives and visiting dealers.

“My position is to light a firecracker under all Kaleidescape constituents, both inside and outside of the organisation,” he says.

Previously Donald held sales and marketing roles with Ultralink, SpeakerCraft, Triad and Sonance.
