The AWE Smart Home Expo will feature the UK’s first showing of the new Epson EH-TW7400 home cinema projector, which was first unveiled earlier this month at IFA 2018. AWE will also have confirmed details surrounding the Epson EH-TW9400, the other projector to launch at IFA.
Both the Epson EH-TW7400 and EH-TW9400 will offer custom installers a 4K resolution projector for an affordable price. The models promise to be both easy to install, and versatile in terms of the number of connections available.
Stuart Tickle, managing director of AWE comments, “Having seen the new models up-close, we’re confident that Epson has produced the best home cinema projectors below £3k, and I challenge installers to come and see the performance for themselves at the forthcoming AWE Expo! It’s about the quality of the pixel and lens, not just the badge on the front.
“Other 4K projectors at this sub £3k price point use a third party 4K chipset which ticks the ‘native 4K’ spec box but are not the same as the superior 4K chipsets used in premium products. Epson’s 4K enhanced 3LCD technology comes with significant benefits that outweigh this technicality.”
Unlike some other 4K projectors, the Epson models are not using third-party processors. Instead they use Epson’s 4K enhanced 3LCD technology, which is being marketed under the ‘PRO UHD’ banner. This term is supposed to represent projectors that offer a high dynamic contrast ratio up to 1,200,000:1, 4K-enhancement technology, 3LCD technology, Full HD, UHD BD and HDR support.
Epson says that its 3LCD technology means users avoid the ‘rainbow effect’ and enjoy vivid colours thanks to an equally high white and colour light output of up to 2,600 lumens. HDR support reveals extra detail and depth. The ultra-wide colour gamut increases the range of lifelike colour, while the high contrast ratio of up to 1,200,000:1 delivers deep blacks for defined detail in the shadows.
These projectors have been specifically designed to make the installer’s job easier. That’s why the motorised optics include a power 2.1x optical zoom, powered focus and powered lens shift. They’ve also been designed for low maintenance, meaning even with regular use it shouldn’t require a lamp change for nearly seven years.
As these models have been designed to be both versatile and accessible, Epson even included wireless viewing on the EH-TW9400W. This allows users to streaming 4K content to the projector from a range of devices using the 4K WiHD transmitter.
Installers can experience these new projectors for themselves by visiting the AWE Smart Home Expo on October 10 and 11 at the company’s HQ and showroom in Epsom, Surrey.
