CEDIA is set to take its training, networking and discussions across South Africa from the October 21-26 this year. Stopping in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban, CEDIA members and non-members are invited to attend the curated programme of manufacturer product training, CEDIA workshops, industry discussions and networking events throughout each day.

CEDIA members, ELAN Systems, iLed, Kordz, Sphere Custom and TrendyStuff are the event sponsors and will provide a variety of product training sessions, specific to their products and services.

ELAN solutions will explore HDMI, EDID and HPD in its session ‘HDMI – It’s Under Control’, whilst TrendyStuff will discuss the rise and application of window coverings. Distributor, iLed will present its latest technologies such as its innovative eZi Home Solution, whilst Kordz will explore HDMI 2.0b, HDCP, HDR, chroma subsampling, deep colour and Rec. 2020. Sphere Custom will impart its wisdom on sales techniques, design, products and décor tricks to succeed in the home technology realm.

“CEDIA is committed in its efforts to grow the home technology market in South Africa and to provide its members with relevant training,” says Wendy Griffiths, executive director of CEDIA EMEA. “It is very important that CEDIA remains dedicated to developing high levels of knowledge and skills in locations where membership continues to grow.”

Also integrated into the road show are CEDIA’s most popular workshops, which will be presented by industry experts Peter Aylett, Christiaan Beukes and Craig Potter. These courses include the renowned Future Technologies: The Silicon Valley Scoop, Advanced Home Cinema Design, Residential Networking and an exam session for its respective certification.

CEDIA will also host its CPD session ‘Designing Integrated Future-Ready Homes’ in Johannesburg on Monday October 24, 17:00 – 18.30. This RIBA, BIID and RIAI accredited CPD is aimed at architects and interior designers who are looking to understand the basics of smart home technology and how this can be achieved without detracting from the properties design.

Following a day of training and workshops, home technology professionals, as well as design professionals who attend the CPD, will have the opportunity to network with the day’s presenters and fellow peers at CEDIA’s Connect networking event.
