If you missed EI Live! 2018 last week, then you’ll want to make sure you don’t miss the show when it returns in 2019. Why? Well, here’s just a few of the things that were on offer at the show that you didn’t get the opportunity to see, and don’t forget to click through to our gallery to check what happened.
The Technical Theatre
The Technical Theatre was a major new addition to EI Live! 2018, with it being the ultimate location to learn about new topics and discuss the future of the industry. Sponsored by CYP, the Technical Theatre played host to big names such as Simon Honywill, a sonic educationalist and senior sound consultant for Glastonbury’s Pyramid stage, and Wilfried Van Baelen, the co-founder of Galaxy Studios and Auro Technologies, and inventor of Auro 3D.
Countless people sat in on sessions in the Technical Theatre on both days of the show, with some sessions being standing room only. The sessions covered everything from the future of AV distribution to 3D audio, with attendees walking away with new tidbits of information to use towards their future projects.
Retra Smart Home Seminar
Also a major addition to EI Live! 2018, the Retra Smart Home Seminar provided electrical retailers the ultimate opportunity to learn about the ins and outs of the custom install market. Here they received the opportunity to learn all about CEDIA, as well as get an in-depth walkthrough on some of the smartest products available from AWE.
Smart Building Awards 2018
The Smart Building Awards 2018 returned to a sit-down dinner format this year, with attendees being given a three-course meal as they learnt about the best the industry has to offer.

Exhibitor Offerings
There was a lot to see and do at EI Live! 2018, although one could quite easily become overwhelmed by the amount of cutting-edge technology on offer. Whether it was OneAV showcasing the stylish NEEO remote, or AWE’s wall of TVs, there was plenty to see and do across the two days of the show.
Soundbooths
It wasn’t just about the products on the stands, but also the products in situ. Both Pulse Cinemas and AWE set up soundbooths which showcased how the technology would work in a real-world home cinema setting. Pulse Cinemas pulled out all the stops with the addition of Anthem AV and Paradigm, while AWE’s Epson projectors were put to the test in its soundbooth.
You can catch a full review of everything that happened at the show in the upcoming issue of Essential Install Magazine.
