dorpo Digital EU Ltd has announced that the dorpo DMP-A1 Music Player has achieved Roon Ready certification, available now via the latest firmware update – A1 1.1.79.
Operating as a Roon Ready endpoint, the DMP-A1 can be selected as a playback destination within a compatible Roon system, bringing certified network playback to a versatile digital audio component designed for demanding music enthusiasts.
At the heart of the DMP-A1 is ESS Technology’s flagship ES9039S PRO DAC, complemented by extensive high-resolution format support, USB audio connectivity, Bluetooth 5.4 reception, comprehensive MQA decoding and a dedicated headphone amplifier with both single-ended and balanced outputs. The DMP-A1 combines music streaming, pre-amplification and headphone amplification in one multifunctional component.
Roon Ready certification confirmed
Roon provides a unified environment for managing, discovering and playing digital music, combining personal libraries and supported streaming services with artist information, credits, artwork and recommendations. With Roon Ready certification confirmed, the DMP-A1 operates as a compatible network audio endpoint within this ecosystem.
Users can select the player from their Roon setup and direct playback to it over their home network. For enthusiasts with extensive digital libraries or multi-component audio systems, this integration offers a convenient way to combine Roon’s music management capabilities with the DMP-A1’s high-resolution audio hardware.
Streaming services and Connect integration
The DMP-A1 gives listeners access to popular music streaming services including TIDAL, Qobuz and Spotify, alongside other supported services. It also supports Qobuz Connect and Spotify Connect, allowing users to control playback from the relevant streaming service apps on compatible devices and send music directly to the player. Together with Roon Ready network playback and broad local-file format support, these options give listeners flexibility in how they access and enjoy their music.
Flagship ESS ES9039S PRO digital-to-analogue conversion
The DMP-A1 incorporates the ESS ES9039S PRO DAC, a flagship digital-to-analogue conversion platform at the centre of its high-resolution audio architecture. USB supports PCM up to 768kHz/32-bit and native DSD playback up to DSD512.
Optical and coaxial digital inputs support PCM up to 192kHz/24-bit and DSD64 via DoP, providing compatibility with a wide range of digital transports and source components. This range of input options allows the DMP-A1 to serve as both a network music player and a central digital audio component within a wider hi-fi system, or as the perfect digital hub to use with a pair of active speakers.
Extensive format support and high-resolution playback
The DMP-A1 supports playback and decoding of a broad selection of lossless and high-resolution audio formats, including SACD ISO, DFF, DSF, FLAC, WAV, APE, DTS and MQA. Supported playback formats extend to DSD512 and PCM sampling rates of up to 768kHz, subject to the format and source connection used.
The system is designed to bypass sample-rate conversion limitations in its supported playback paths, enabling native-rate playback and direct high-resolution audio output from compatible third-party applications where supported. This flexibility is intended for listeners with music collections across multiple file formats and high-resolution sources.
Comprehensive MQA decoding
MQA support is another key feature of the DMP-A1. Its optical, coaxial and USB inputs support the three MQA formats specified for the player: MQA, MQA Renderer and MQA Studio. This provides flexibility when integrating compatible digital sources into an MQA-capable playback chain, across the player’s principal digital inputs.
Bluetooth 5.4 with Qualcomm technology
Alongside its wired digital connections, the DMP-A1 incorporates a Qualcomm QCC5181 Bluetooth 5.4 audio receiver. The wireless interface supports codecs including AAC and SBC, alongside additional compatible codecs, with audio support specified up to 96kHz/24-bit. This adds a convenient wireless playback option to the DMP-A1’s network and wired digital audio capabilities.
Dedicated headphone amplification with balanced output
The DMP-A1 incorporates a dedicated headphone amplifier with 6.35mm single-ended and 4.4mm balanced headphone outputs. Two gain settings—high and low—allow the output to be adjusted for different headphone requirements. The amplifier is specified to support headphone impedances from 16 to 300 ohms, accommodating a broad range of headphone designs and listening preferences.
Together with its music playback and pre-amplification functions, the headphone stage enables the DMP-A1 to serve as a flexible listening hub for headphone enthusiasts.
