AWE is underlining its long term and successful relationship with the URC platforms at this year’s show, highlighting a range of fresh introductions.
The URC platforms, ably assisted by AWE has really made a good case in Europe over the last few years. There were some who were sceptical the brand could appeal to a European audience, with its formerly rather chunky controllers, however the brand now offers an aesthetic that appeals very well in Europe with functionality to match.
Visitors to the URC stand (1-N15) can expect to learn about URC’s new flagship control solution, Total Control 2.0, as well as MX HomePro, Z-wave integration and the launch of the Kaleidescape 2-way Chowmain module.
Total Control 2.0
Total Control 2.0 is a home control and automation platform that has been created to bring greater flexibility, an attractive aesthetic, and high-performance operation, says the maker. Featuring a full graphical update, a new user interface and advanced logic, URC says Total Control 2.0 enables integrators to put homeowners in charge of their home with a seamless, intuitive and versatile solution.
The updated platform also offers much faster speeds for both integrators and end users, with downloading to the system, loading new programming and response time all improved. Integrators can also make adjustments and edits more quickly and simply, and pollinate across different control devices in the house.
The new Accelerator 2.0 software features advanced logic, enabling integrators to incorporate ‘if, an, then, and or’ commands. URC hope this final addition will allow installers to fine tune the system more fully for each project.
URC has also recently announced the launch of a free demo app for Total Control 2.0, demonstrating the benefits of the system when controlling entertainment, music and lighting. The app is available for iOS and Android devices.
Simple, reliable and powerful for this platform, which offers a cloud-based smart home control system that designed to offer a starting point for integrators looking for single room control. The MX HomePro, which incorporates a smart hub, remote control, and mobile app, benefits from a simple installation process. This range was created to fill a gap in the market for an affordable, but professionally installed solutions.
The URC MX HomePro offers users one-touch control of home entertainment and IoT devices including lighting, thermostats, security cameras, and Z-Wave products. The compact H500 smart hub and remote control, which features a two-inch colour LCD screen, connect via Wi-Fi or Ethernet. The free to download MX HomePro App offers on-touch system control at home or on the go and can control multiple locations from a single smart device.
For the integrator, URC says the system is easy to programme and monitor offering simple, web-based programming via PC, Mac or mobile and allows for servicing to be managed remotely.
Total Control 2.0 and MX HomePro are both compatible the new Z-Wave gateway. The gateway expands the system control for Z-Wave based products, such as lighting, motorised shades and security devices, providing two-way control. End user portals can be set up to integrate products and create Z-Wave scenes.
New Kaleidescape 2-way Module by Chowmain
URC has partnered with software and driver wizard Chowmain to develop URC modules to further enhance smart home projects. First up, Kaleidescape 2-way Chowmain-developed modules, helping integrators to further enhance residential projects with this popular high-quality content source.
Focussing on AV and lighting, Chowmain has also created modules for Sky+ HD and Sky Q set top boxes, Oppo Blu-ray players, and Belkin WeMo. An IFTTT module allows integrators to add Amazon Echo, push notifications, messaging, phone calls, Tesla, BMW, other connected cars, Twitter, emails, facial recognition and geofencing.
URC Total Control 2.0 compartmentalises all two-way modules so that they run independently of each other, increasing the overall speed and stability of the system.
