GT Cup multiple class race-winning team, Feathers Motor Sport (FMS), returns to the UK-based championship for 2021, but this time, it’s bringing its newly acquired Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 to the party and a new sponsorship partner, AWE.
Buoyed by a successful first full season in the series’ GTH class – FMS recorded four victories, nine podiums, three fastest laps and a pole position with team regular, James Guess, who finished runner-up in the championship – the team has switched to the ultra-successful Vantage GT4 as it makes a concerted assault on the 2021 title.
To that end, the Northamptonshire-based team has also secured the services of three-times 24 Hours of Le Mans class winner and works Aston Martin Racing driver Darren Turner, who also happens to be James’ business partner at Base Performance Simulators.

MD of AWE, Stuart Tickle comments, “Darren and James are business partners at Base Performance Simulators, which AWE distributes to the residential integration market, so it makes sense to extend our relationship by partnering with Feathers Motorsport. It will be exciting to see them working together as mates in real-world racing, which is what sets BPS apart in terms of the feel and accuracy of their simulators.”
FMS Team Manager, Simon Rose, says, “We are very excited to have Darren’s support in what will be, for the 2021 GT Cup Championship, a very competitive grid. We are a small team with big ambitions. Racing is our passion, winning is our focus. Having AWE on board as experts in their own field and who also have big ambitions makes them a perfect fit for us to partner with.”
The GT Motor Sport Cup, which kicks off at Donington Park on 10-11 April, visits all of England’s key racing venues, including Brands Hatch, Snetterton, Silverstone and Oulton Park. AWE will be providing pre- and post-race weekend updates across our marketing channels and hope to be able to get a number of lucky VIP customers trackside later in the year.
