Prove your humanity

CEDIA has announced the headline sponsor for this year’s CEDIA Awards and it’s a little bit of a surprise.

ABB is a company we know well at CE Pro Europe as our sister publication Electrical Contracting News (ECN) has covered the company many times, recently for its involvement in bringing ‘smart’ products into the world of electrical contracting.

Clearly the company has ambitions to raise its profile in the install sector too and in truth has for some time. Its good to have some involvement from companies new to the sector and we look forward to working with ABB more as time progresses.

ABB operates in more than 100 countries, specialising in electrification products, robotics and motion, industrial automation, and power grids.

With its CEDIA involvement, the company is looking to underline its delivery of affordable smart home technology with its home automation system, ABB-free@home.

Reeve Carter, local sales manager UK of ABB’s Electrification Products division, comments, “Modern homeowners want to be connected at all times and like to control every element of their property. ABB’s free@home system allows homeowners to control multiple home automation functions such as lighting, blinds, heating, air-conditioning, and door communication. This can be done with a switch on the wall or from anywhere in the world via PC or a smartphone app, making the lives of homeowners easier, safer, and smarter.

“The CEDIA Awards is a well-established awards scheme and one that generates a lot of interest within the industry. It’s a great pleasure to be involved this year to celebrate the best home technology projects and smart home solutions available.”

The awards take place at the British Museum, London, on Thursday September 27.

Tickets are now on sale direct from the Association and the early bird discounted rate is in place until August 12.

Included in the ticket price is a drinks reception in the Egyptian Sculpture Gallery, and a three-course dinner beneath the stars in the Great Court with evening entertainment.

Hosting the event this year is TV presenter and producer, Jason Bradbury.

Known for presenting the ‘The Gadget Show’ TV programme both in the UK and US, Jason has worked on hundreds of shows across various British TV channels (including BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Sky).

Single tickets start from £180 (+VAT) for CEDIA members and £230 (+VAT) for non-members. Tables of 10 are also available for larger parties starting from £1600 (+VAT). Please note the early bird discount will only be available until 12th August.
